Firstly I just want to say that I've been a big fan of Negreanu's until tonight.. amplified by the fact that I'm also Canadian and from Toronto..

I'm at Aria hotel in Vegas as I type this thread..

I just saw Negreanu playing 1/3 nl with this gf in the Aria poker room, chatting away with the low grinders at the table.

The condescension and cocky attitude in Negreanu's tone when conversing with the other players at the table was just disappointing..

Not to mention every two minutes he would go in for a kiss and cuddle with his not so welcoming gf with a sly smirk on his face as he did so.. For all to see 'Shes with me guys!'

(Yeah, we get it Negreanu.. your gf is good looking, and we can see that she's with you.. You don't need to do 'show off' like that bud)

The ultimate let down was when my friend and I approached Negreanu (and Barry-who showed up a bit later-I really just wanted a picture with Barry at this point because he seems like a good guy and seemed willing to do so if someone were to ask- and after watching Negreanu's antics at the table, i was just turned off)

Anyways, so I approached Negreanu and Greenstein and asked them if they'd be okay taking a quick picture with us.. And Daniel responded, with an annoyed/disgusted look on his face "ok, just let me finish this thought first", he then continued conversing with Greenstein for another 10 minutes while my friend and I stood there like idiots waiting. 10 minutes later he just walks off and leaves without even acknowledging me or my friend..

At this point I didn't even care about the picture or the 'rejection' itself, I just wanted him to take the picture so that I wouldn't lose my faith and love for him as a poker player/representative/ambassador with such a dick move..

Remember the poker after dark dream table III episode where Negreanu lectures Phil laak about poker lessons and not to raise in the SB vs only the BB etc etc. And the entire episode he had the cockiest and most condescending tone and words to say to the table? (esp to laak-who's awesome btw)

yeah, I used to be a huge fan of his until I saw that episode... But a year or so later, not only did he improve his game, but he improved his attitude (on camera at least) and I became a fan once again as he seemed to have humbled up and came back down to earth (now I just think his PR guy told him to make sure he keeps his good side on at all times whenever the camera's are rolling)

Well now I can see that it's all just a front, and in reality, Negreanu thinks he is better than you as a person and you are not worthy of his presence..

So you can play cards well, so the **** what? What else do you do well and good as a human being that gives you the right to look and talk down to the people around you?

To be honest, after watching that PAD episode I realized that there is probably a decent chance that Negreanu IS like that in real life, I just didn't want to believe it...

Oh well, just my thoughts.. Kind of turned off from poker in general now..

Well this is disappointing, I like him.

I am not surprised..... I also used to like Negreanu more than I do now.

He seems to pat himself on the back for too many things, way to often.

At WSOP last year he refused to let me taste his french truffle and powerade smoothie.

I doubt you would make this up. I always wondered how many of them were like this off camera/away from the crowds. I bet if you had tits and a nice ass he woulda snapped that pic fast lol.

Anyways try not to let this put you off. Shoulda asked him what he was doing at 1/3 or how his series went. See how baller he talks then. Ask him if Barry Schulman's AA still sting .

So in short, he's affectionate towards his GF, and sometimes he doesn't want to be interrupted by strangers during conversations. Sounds like a real awful guy.

usually daniel is great with photos OP just caught him at a bad time, hes the 2nd most approachable pro who i've played with scotty is a way higher first he goes around the room trying to find people who want photos with him. As for the PDA thing sorry you were there and single I mean common he prob hasnt spent much time with his gf during wsop so hes happy to not play real poker and have some fun let him cut loose.

I'm not surprised, nor would i be surprised if daniels bustoe playing 1/3. The only part of the story that surprises me is the part about greenstein. Was barry really playing 1/3? because barry is a multi multi millionaire lol, daniel is not, not even close.

He probably just forgot that he said he would take a photo with you. I've seen countless times where Negreanu takes extra time for a fan/casual player. I think he's far and away more considerate than your average 'big name' pro. As far as him being annoying and brash at the table, I take you at your word. But that said, we all have our less-than-proud moments and he is coming off a forgettable WSOP. Not an excuse, but a little perspective. At least at face value, it is cool for him slumming it at a 1-3 table.

Random, but I also ran into Laak at a 1-2 table a couple years back at Mandalay Bay. He was as cool and nice as you would hope he would be.

I'll reserve judgment until Daniel replies, which he will. Not to excuse his behaviour but he has had a very bad series, which is just finishing, and has probably had people hassling him for autographs and pictures for the last few weeks on end, all the while dealing with a downswing and everything else. I'm not surprised he wouldn't be all that welcoming to more when he was out having fun with his girlfriend, winding down after a bad series.

However, that isn't to say he shouldn't have at least been a bit more polite, he certainly should have.

I do think you're overreacting though and to be honest, if a poker "celebrity" not giving you a picture put you off the game itself, then I would imagine it wasn't the game itself that you were into in the first place.

Regardless, shall wait and see what Daniel has to say.

do you get some kind of amusement/satisfaction out of posting in the manner/style/tone you do? this is legitimately an honest question.

How can you not expect to get approached for pictures or autographs when you're playing 1/3 NL at the aria.... With fame comes responsibility, personally i think daniel is much like alot of the "big pros" , in debt up to his eyeballs with little to no real money of his own. Just my take. He still owes steve wynn like 3 million fyi. Surprised hes still alive, 25 years ago in vegas hed be six feet under.

How would you feel if 100's of people came up to you everyday to ask for a picture? ive had chances to get ali.s,iveys, and jack nicklaus' autograph but passed out of respect for their privacy. Dont understand the whole autograph/ photo fascination thing anyway. When you think about it the while concept is pretty stupid.
