If it's true that there's been a history of this with Smith, I'm with everyone who thinks it's fine to bring up, but I also think giving him a way out at some point would've been a better conclusion. At
2:11:19, Smith says "I'm sorry if I offended anyone", which seems like a great place to bring it a down a notch or just let it go. Instead Koon fires back within a second of him saying it with "Buddy, it's like the 100th time..." which I assume was heading for more berating, but was cut off by others. You've made your point, Smith is likely embarrassed, just give him an out and call it a day. I don't think it's a huge thing, but I'm really not seeing the point in him continuing there.

He's embarrassed it was brought up -that doesn't mean he's gonna change anything about the way he plays.

Basically smith plays in a way that's utterly intolerable for his tablemates while Koon made a couple of comments he didn't like. Poor smith!

I've played with enough people who tank, want total silence etc and are awful to play with. Most of them are actually nice off of the table. But if you politely bring these things to their attention off the felt they don't care.

I'm sure Koon had gone though this with Smith many times . Maybe making Smith a little uncomfortable over it will actually illicit some change.

If it really was the first time Smith would have corrected him on that and then I agree that would be the point for Koon to tone it down.

If so, I sort of doubt continuing is going to make any difference. And the problem here isn't just about how he's treating Smith, but also that it's a pretty ****ing uncomfortable spot for the whole table.

Definitely not a hill I'm going to die on or anything. Not the approach I would've taken, but that doesn't necessarily make it wrong.

Also thought the Koon tweet someone posted several posts back was a good follow-up. I haven't been following the social media reaction to this whole thing, but I expect that like usual it's been way out of proportion, so I think it's good to try to bring down the temperature.

I’d be willing to sign a waiver acknowledging Koon might not have reacted 100% perfectly if focus remains on Smith. Where it should be.

That looked really wierd lol Mainly because Koon is usually being smarmy pretending to be everyone best mate. So it was kind of shocking even though much wasn't said. Dan's reaction was funny, at one point I was expecting him to bring out a safety whistle lol.

I always end up muting the stream when Koon is on the table because he's always having some fake nice conversation. The "I had two VIP come up to me" is a yucky.

Who are the "vip's" that complained to Koon? Wasn't it implied that it was Boski & Rob Kuhn? Hardly "VIPs" just some sponsored pros taking a shot with ACR backing.

It's poker, ppl can do what they want within reason. Koon comes off worse here partially because he's acting like he can make up rules and police what ppl do at the table (which he can't) whereas Dan was just making a polite request (totally allowed).

If everyone did what Smith does poker as a whole would be unbearable and unplayable

People he's been bitching about Smith to who agreed privately and were probably horrified that Koon brought it up on stream. It had the vibe that Smith annoys Koon and he was looking for an excuse to bark at him.

Lol I’m sure the VIPs were fine about it. If this happened back in 1883 on some steamboat Smith would have been thrown overboard and everyone would have been like “phew thanks, annoying guy”.

People are pointing fingers at Koon because they're both wrong. Smiths overly serious approach to these situations is wrong, and Koon's response to him is childish at best. They're both idiots.

I'd say it's pretty much analogous to walking up to a woman in a bar and politely telling her she's dressed too proactively and next time can she cover up more because it's bothering you. You are allowed to ask that, and she's allowed to politely oblige or decline, but the politeness of how it's asked is missing the point. Pros want recs to play, but getting shushed preflop makes recs not want to play anymore. So you're making an anti-social request which regardless of how politely it's asked, you're effectively asking if they're okay with poker in general being less rec-friendly. Because shushing people preflop even politely is still less rec-friendly no matter how you cut it.

imagine doing something over and over again in poker games ,sometimes on stream and then getting upset about someone bringing it up on stream.
Koon didn't bring up something Smith did at a bar that would embarrass him. If Smith is embarrassed his poker behavior is brought up at the poker table then maybe he should change his poker behavior.
