The obscene money and his need to flaunt it will obviously inspire envy (which is his objective) but if I had however much money he has, I wouldn't want to live like that, I'm sure basically everyone who isn't an ego-maniacal manchild wouldn't choose to live that way, either.

The man clearly has colossal self esteem issues, which is pretty much always the impetus behind self-aggrandizing behavior. You can bet your ass his desire to be a "Navy Seal" tracked straight back to this same personality dysfunction, which is probably what the SEAL trainers recognized when they dropped him. No doubt they'd seen his kind before, physically able to complete the training but mentally and emotionally imbalanced.
