The back and forth on this bet is impressive and underlines why there is a bet in the first place.
Some points...PEDs would not help him anymore than they would in a skilled power sport such as Olympic Lifting. Lengthy training in skills are necessary first. Even acclimating to traffic...crosswinds etc. will be a trial never mind depressing wind. He is short with a large upper body musculature which will not help.
He IS experienced in extreme exertion...or was.

You want to ignore the training and dedication and just say "well it was the drugs". PEDs *help* but they don't do everything for you. No, he did not finish Seal school-(on the Seal forum-they have discussed Dan and no one really remembers him)

EPO will only help add some oxygen carrying capability, and certainly not enough to push him over the top-and just spending 4 weeks sucking wheel behind the big cheater, won't make him strong enough on the bike to make the first century-let alone the next one (and the last 80-90)

The elevation would produce more blood cells and capillaries, as well as beast mode his conditioning. If he did that ... he would wreck the challenge.

I would definitely subject him to a doping test. A Dutch reporter once took EPO for a couple of weeks and his performance increased by 7,5%, without even training.

He has a team around him, so I highly doubt there's any kind of isolation. He might even have another guy on a bike next to him to talk to and get "in-game" advice.

Judging from my ~2 hour sunday morning group runs, some people like to chat, others like to listen to music and some just think about stuff while running.
