Could a "poker players boxing" themed hotel make it in vegas?

I am sold

Ted, you yourself said you were a "maybe", at best would "probably" pay to see such a show.

I think such show would fold by the second night, through no fault of its proposed star.

Did you ever hear of All-in, the Musical, the poker-themed entertainment effort ?

"The evening began with poker hero Phil Hellmuth telling us that lyricist/composer Tim Molyneux was going to be the next Andrew Lloyd Webber, and that "All In" was going to be running "40 or 50 years from now."

https://www.reviewjournal.com/entert...entertainment/

I think the show ran fewer than 5 performances after it opened, but I could be overly generous.

I said "probably", I don't know where your "maybe" in quotes came from.

And I would probably go see an Esfandiari magic show (like I believe many poker players would). Of course if the price of the show was too high (like the $195 average price of a Donny and Marie ticket) I wouldn't go see it.

Heck, I would even pay $20 to see a political debate between Daniel Negreanu and Mike Matusow.

"Probably" = maybe, more likely than not, but still a maybe.

Matusow might do it for a flat $20, but can you hire DN for a $20 rate for that event, even if you offer him 100% of the tickets revenue from you and the legion of poker players who would show up, night after night, at your hotel ...

Donnie and Marie tickets at the Flamingo are only $95 - $109... according to Ticketmaster. If you offer them a guaranteed $195 per ticket, perhaps they would switch their show to your poker themed hotel ?

Maybe this week with 110 degrees a day temperatures, but 5 years ago the "lowest" price you could pay for a Donny and Marie ticket was 121 dollars:

I like magic shows (and Antonio FWIW) but is there any indication that he would be able to pull off a full-stage Vegas magic show? And are you expecting him to perform and fill a showroom 5-10 times a week?

I guess you could also throw in a time travel round-trip ticket for $75 while you're at this.

While you're back there, buy some Bitcoin at $40.

With my idea you could just grab any magician off the street, give him thick glasses, and voila. A full-stage magic show "starring" Antonio Esfandiari. You could even name him like Santonio Moskandiari to avoid potential lawsuits regarding likeness.

Other great ideas:

An pc cafe where you can only play internet poker and access only poker-related content

A one-screen theater playing Rounders 24/7

Good start, but let's take it out another step ....

1. Blue Man Group playing poker on stage
2. A dedicated room where players sit around tables and play poker live, with power hookups so they can concurrently play online.
3. A one screen theater which does nothing but stream Twitch poker 24/7

I can only imagine what the term "hand history" actually means to them.

Instead of some run-of-the-mill celebrity impersonation show (Elvis, Cher, Sinatra), have a poker celebrity impersonation show in a live-game format. Hellmuth lookalike throwing fits, Stu Ungar crazy-eyed calling down with 7-high, Wild Bill gets shot by Benny Binion, the works.

... or a poker celebrity imitating another poker celebrity:

This is the real reason I wear a scarf/cover my face at the poker table. I don't care if you look at my neck, I've just had to leave too many tables when some extremely stinky guy plops down next to me. Worst of all is when it's a tournament.

Call the buffet 'Chainsaw's' and only allow entry to people with comps obtained from poker/table game/slot play.

Lodden thinks a magic show with Esfandiari would be awful, so do I.

I'm guessing you were joking but I think this is actually a cool idea. Doesn't have to just be real-life poker celebrities either. Imagine having a game dealt by Worm from Rounders where you get cheated and dealt setup cooler hands. Or how about playing against Teddy KGB? He could splash chips into the pot and constantly needle you while eating his Oreo cookies. That would be kinda fun actually.

And then you go to the bathroom and you see a guy get blown by a hooker. A guy comes up to you and punches you in the guts and takes your roll. You're still a smartass so you get another slap on the face for good measure.

Casinos have had "in swimming pool" craps tables and blackjack tables. A poker themed hotel might be the first to have an in pool poker game. Players could swim around and get some exercise while players like Dwan tank for 5 minutes.

Terrible idea but might be worth it for “splashing the pot on the river” and “fish” jokes.

The Del Rey Hotel (Costa Rica) offers both hookers and poker. Oddly enough, hookers are all over the casino and bars, but are banned from the poker room.

That says a lot about what they consider the relative competitiveness of poker vs other gambling games when it comes to keeping their player pool.
