No investor in their right mind would contribute the millions of equity necessary to finance the construction/renovation of a poker-themed hotel in the current market.
In fact based on your logic about movies, investors would be better off making a Star Wars themed hotel.
The Hilton had a Star Trek themed activity for a while.
The TI has a Marvel comics themed activity currently, I think.
The WWE-themed hotel did not fare well, despite decent entertainment ratings for their PPV content.
The Bingo-themed Bingo Palace dropped the theme, re-branded as Palace Station and grew into a huge, multi-property Stations brand. For that matter, Stations never tried to build a themed hotel from the UFC, which the same family owned.
The genius of Las Vegas is knowing the difference between "events" and the casino industry. Ted simply doesn't get that at all. Casinos/Las Vegas venues host events, they don't marry them and change their name for a weekend fling.
Even "celebrity-themed" casinos drop those references, even if they do not re-brand....Planet Hollywood did not fare well and was bought by Caesars, san celebrities from the early 1990s.
Why the f**k isn't there a "boxing" theme hotel ? ....
because boxing, even with Floyd Mayweather and a huge draw when it comes to town, is an event, not the basis for a themed hotel casino
