Why is it blown out of proportion if it's killing old people at a high rate?

To the WSOP organizers:

Time to double the number of online gold bracelet events from 14 to 28. There is absolutely no downside to this action.

Right now, many of the online events are on Sundays. You can schedule 14 new events for Wednesdays.

You don't have to announce to the world that you're doing it because of the CoronaVirus. Just give some nice sounding "customer-driven" reason for doing so.

Hire Andrew Yang as a spokesman for the online gold bracelet events.

You would know better I'm sure lol.
Quarantine is to stop the spread and is the sensible option. People whose immune systems are strong enough to fight the virus can pass it to another person just as easily as someone with a weak immune system.

Yes. But I don't get why you quoted me. I'm an advocate of the quarantine and any other prevention measures to contain this.

What frustrates me is the general attitude of the avg uninformed person who is like, "Oh it's just in China and only kills olds why are people throwing up a fuss idk?"

because you have to compare with what we've had before, jesus christ, obviously it should not be spread but it's not the apocalypse, odds are I would probably die if I get it so yeah it's not because I'm not old

How can you not take Dick Pound seriously? He could call himself Richard Pound. Or even Richard William Duncan Pound. But, he asks to be called Dick Pound.
Maybe, he really likes filling out forms that require Last Name First, First Name Last ?

Compare it with what? 2003 SARS?
Sure, that had an approx mortality rate of 10%, but there were only 9000 cases resulting in 900ish deaths.

We are currently looking at over 80,000 cases and over 2500 deaths.
This thing is spreading fast.

so given every countries are doing what they can to prevent the spreading of the virus, are you guys advocating that panicking is what we should be going for?

because this sure sounds like it

Italy sure aren’t doing enough. Most of the first cases in new countries aren’t from people having been in China, but people coming from Italy.

Juventus play in Lyon tonight. The Juventus manager has conceded that the virus needs to be contained, but in the same breath says that Juventus fans have ‘the right’ to travel to the match in France.

At least the Ireland v Italy rugby match this weekend in Dublin has been called off.

Any predictions on what our Great President is going to announce in a Corona Virus press conference scheduled for this evening ?

1. Closing the Border to any immigration by land ?

2. Closing air traffic from China to the US ?

3. Quarantine California, in advance of Super Tuesday ? See, Korematsu v US,
https://supreme.justia.com/cases/fed...pinion-1938224

4. Online poker is legalized by Executive Order, but only for the Venetian ?
.

No, but spouting misinformation to make people feel warm and fuzzy like there's nothing to worry about isn't good either.

Informed concern is probably what people are going for.

oh yeah cuz the actual stats we have is "misinformation" and your assessment of "HAY GUYS THERE'S VARIANCE IT COULD BE 50% DEATH RATE BUT WE DONT KNOW YET" is soooo much better right?

Never said 50% or even any number because I don't know and neither do you. But yeah go ahead and keep saying numbets to make it look like you know something.

I'm saying there's a valid reason for concern and people like you who want to downplay it because herp derp I'm not old or in China, are being naieve at best.

No, Xenophobe, I am simply predicting that by tonight, this administration will attempt to leverage a public health issue for political gain, acting by Executive Order, in a completely self-serving way to benefit the President's political and personal interests.
02-26-2020 , 01:27 PM
There are going to be a spectrum of outcomes. So trying to minimize this by continuing to focus on a "low" death rate seems ignorant.

I mean if out of the survivors a large percentage happens to have some other permanent complications that doesn't seem great either. But for poker players you just win or lose the hand, nothing else to consider I guess.

In other words, Gzesh is simply using the Coronavirus as a conduit for his passive-aggressive Trump derangement syndrome statements.

Euro 2020 will be fun when they play the entire tournament in a containment ward on the Wirral.
