An AP story about the Olympics.

Associated Press: IOC senior member: 3 months to decide fate of Tokyo Olympics

Quote:
Dick Pound, the longest-serving member of the IOC, estimates there’s a three-month window to decide the fate of the Tokyo Olympics, which are being threatened by the fast-spreading virus from China.

Pound, in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, did not sound alarmist. But he did speak frankly about the risks facing the Olympics, which open July 24.

...Pound called uncertainty a major problem and repeated the IOC’s stance — that it’s depending on consultations with the World Health Organization, a United Nations body, to make any move. So far, the games are on.

How can you not take Dick Pound seriously? He could call himself Richard Pound. Or even Richard William Duncan Pound. But, he asks to be called Dick Pound.

That would be a good way to expose all Caesar's patrons across all their hotels.

(If that was one's goal.)

yeah but the thing is those statistics include infants and old people whose chances are of dying are significantly higher, a healthy 30 yr old human is very unlikely to die from it, not impossible but it's far less than 2%

I'm not saying it's like getting a cold fwiw, just saying it seems to be blown way out of proportion by the medias, the last coronavirus we had as 10% death rate.

it seems to be like a very bad case of influenza, I'm also saying that as someone who is more at risk than most people given I've been taking immunosuppressant drugs for the past 4 years

You actually don't know this. So stop saying it.

You have got to love the insularity of the poker community, Coronavirus is threatening to wipe out 2% of the world population if it spreads across the world, and the poker community wonders if this virus could cause the postponement of the WSOP 2020?

Well it is a poker forum so? Just like investment forums wonder abt trading and logistics. Gotta love people who come to a poker forum and complain of people talking abt poker

What I mean is you don't even know the death rate is truly 2%.

They don't even fully understand everything about the virus.

I get it a healthy younger person will fare better than an older one. Doesn't mean the risk of dying is negligible.

I figured a poker player would know something about sample size.

Most people lose at poker.

Also to all those that are saying this is no big deal for people other than the elderly, I guess all the countries are just over reacting by quarantines and China shutting down their factories?

You would know better I'm sure lol.

Obviously there’s still a lot we don’t know. But thus far, the death rate for all ages groups under 50 has been less than 0.5%. The death rate for those 70 and up has been around 10%.

Oh, what was I thinking? I forgot that millennials are the only people that matter. Carry on. Nothing to worry about here. Why is this even a story?

I know right lol. What is that? A virus that's super easy to spread and has a 2 wk incubation period? Oh my 3 month old and mom will probably die from it or have major health complications if they get it? Well people get the flu all the time so please carry on everyone. China is just trolling, better for you.

I guess your "painfully obvious" meaning is different than what you actually post. Or am I not getting how "just saying it seems to be blown way out of proportion by the medias" is to be interpreted as "it is not important to the typical 2p2 forum member demographic"?

Perhaps you should provide a key to your posts like putting the stuff you don’t mean and we’re supposed to ignore in italics or something.

orly? So if I play 10k hands online and I'm winning 100bb/100 I know that's my true win rate right?

Plus the fact when you add in that there are many that just haven't made it to the death pile yet and the problem of reporting accuracy. It's very interesting how you do know this. Please elaborate.
