The number of poker players who do not wash their hands after going to the bathroom is exponential. We all know it. Have you ever washed your hands at an event and not had someone leave without doing so? I can't remember the last the time.

I hope this has some sort of impact on the Chinese pseudo beliefs.

You're probably about the 30th or more persons to think of this.

And I just flew back from Honk Kong after three weeks in Asia (not including Wuhan and its 14 million people). Hopefully, I'll be able to post in another 14 days.

I suppose they could use the Amazon Room for quarantine or you could pay extra for a Hazmat suit (assuming you're Diamond or above).

When will the government block ladders to be used. Also the wsop is in Las Vegas. Las Vegas has a lot of big buildings with a lot of falling down potential.

I demand that the wsop takes quick action and moves the wsop events to the desert, where are no high places.
Man, that is ridiculous, there is no way you could get 35000 getting onto a single ladder, I swear, they just couldn't make one that big.

Exactly. The ladder was only supposed to carry 34,000.

It has been 12 days since this thread was started and the number of cases for the CoronaVirus is up 6 fold. Specifically, it was 8,000 to 10,000 when I started this thread and it is 45,000 to 50,000 cases at the close of today.

If it is not stopped, 200,000 to 350,000 is a chip shot before March. Millions by the time the WSOP starts.

Surgical masks must be required for everyone who enters the WSOP poker arena. Caesar's Entertainment needs to order surgical masks now! They can sell them for 2 bucks a piece to everyone. Half the proceeds can be used to contribute to CoronaVirus research.

Right now 70k are reported infected with 2,000 deaths. By the time the virus is contained i would guess 350k infected with 10,000 dead. These numbers are probably severely under-reported by the Chinese government. Actual death count will probably reach 6 figures, but realistically 99% of that will be confined to mainland China, meaning US citizens dont have much to worry about. Thats not to say the US and other countries shouldnt take extra precautions but citizens themselves should relax, because unless you are in mainland China you dont have much to worry about.

Everything about this post – especially the geographical part – has been said and reiterated many times within this very thread. He's not listening to it, so much so that I'm starting to wonder if he's actually fearmongering simply as some sort of troll attempt.

One of the interesting and/or amusing parts of the COVID-19 outbreak has been the advice from medical professionals here in the U.S. We received a department-wide notice from our team doc, for example. The overall prevention has largely consisted of things like "be sure to wash your hands before eating or touching your mouth" or "cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing."

Of course, I'm looking at that and thinking, shouldn't people do that in general??

Also interesting how worked up he's getting about a flu centralized in China. During the 2017-18 influenza season, the CDC estimated 44.8 million experiencing ILI, of which 20.7 million sought professional health care, 808,129 required hospitalization and 61,099 died. [Source]

These are the American numbers, mind you, yet I find not one archived thread from Registered2018 about what it could mean for the 2018 WSOP.

There should be a Chinese proverb that says:

One should not bring dead Chinese birds to Washington DC during a major Chinese Flu epidemic.

FYP - although the difference isn't much.

Yes, health professionals have been recommending these things for years, but they unfortunately go largely ignored by many people. It’s a shame that the spread of these viruses could be drastically reduced by following these simple measures and yet are not.

Gold bracelet aspirants living in the Eastern part of the US (who are terrified of the CoronaVirus) will be glad to know that the WSOP has added 14 gold bracelet online events to their schedule. One does not have to be a resident of New Jersey to be able to play at the WSOP.com website. All they have to do is be there physically when they play...perhaps in a hotel, an airbnb, van parked next to a Starbucks or McDonald's etc.

For old folks it’s a fact of life.

I had to have the ‘no more going on the roof’, ‘no more ladders’, ‘no more driving‘, etc. talks with my dad as he could no longer cope. The ‘no more driving’ part was hard for him to accept.

He also took some bad falls in the last few years but we lucked out, scrapes only, no broken bones. Plus his house is tri-level on a steep lot, stairs everywhere so for the last two years he moved to a bedroom on the same level as the LR and kitchen (midnight snacker).

Pop passed last year at 90. I moved in with him for the last three years (plus somehow held down a job in another state) and it’s a lot of work plus staying sane etc.

Working corporate shows in Vegas, there was some discussion among the crew about shows that have been canceled, and there have been several. Any show/corporate event/exhibition that relies on a good number of Asian attendees are subject to cancellation.

Some big Mobile conference in Barcelona just got cancelled. But that's just because it's a waste of money anyway. A lot of this is like the metoo movement - it's a great excuse for getting rid of overpaid blowhards.

There is also a worrisome CoronaVirus outbreak in Iran which cannot be traced to China.

Meanwhile, there are now 77,000 cases worldwide, a 77 fold increase since this thread started.

The WSOP needs to have 9 of these at every table:

More importantly, this should be required for everyone to be wearing at all times:

So it has reached the jackpot threshold.

the death rate is 2% boys, being infected is far from a death sentence

It's actually more of a death sentence than an actual death sentence in the U.S., where 1.4% of those given the death penalty have been executed since capital punishment was reinstated in 1976.

In any case, a 1-in-50 chance of death is alarmingly high and should be handled as such. In comparison, that death rate for influenza is ~0.135%.

2% added onto everything else that is already set to kill you. I'd prefer not to get the extra 2% life debuff.
