So why don't you believe epidemiologists when they recommend that you wear a mask? Do you know something about infectious diseases that they don't?
A paraphrase from Atlas Shrugged, I am too lazy to find it for an exact quote.

"If you had a broken leg, wouldn't you have a doctor set it?"

"Not if he was the one who broke it."

That’s ridicules-

Your implication that Rand was saying that the individual outweighs the whole with regards to public health is shallow and insults libertarians-

I don’t have the “right” to make others sick.

I do have the right to do what I want as long as it doesn’t impede the rights of others to do the same.

If there were reason to believe that my hair growing out was hazardous to public health, yeah Id shave my head.
Excellent point, I can't agree more on that!!!

If your reads are as far off on the poker table, I want game. Coronavirus has caused the postponement of the WSOP 2020! (Coronavirus quarantine thread)

My love of Danny goes to direct personal experience. Without going into a political derail, I'm an "Anyone but Trump" as they get. Also having direct personal experience.

Are those %s just random to lead up to the punchline?

Seems logical but feel free to fact check.

No reason someone can't pick among these two as alternatives, they should have a right to choose ....

Fwiw, I got an email yesterday evening from c..tact@team.donaldtrump.com telling me that

"Patriots Wear Masks"

"I don’t love wearing them either. Masks may be good, they may be just okay, or they may be great. They can possibly help us get back to our American way of life that so many of us rightfully cherished before we were so terribly impacted by the China Virus.

My feeling is, we have nothing to lose, and possibly everything to gain
, including the next chapter to our country, and to keep things open whether it be schools or businesses."

I guess someone in the campaign figured out that voters who don't wear masks (or do jump off a bridge) might not be available to vote on November 3.

what if the person who objects is the store owner? do you respect private property rights?

They're complete psuedoscience. The virus is equivalent to a size of a tennis ball and the spaces in the fabric of the masks are like basketball hoops.

I see.... "complete pseudoscience"?

So, Dr. Fauci, who seems partial to baseball, is less qualified on the topic of masks than are you ?

What about an N95 mask, are those spaces the size of a squash ball, which is smaller than a tennis ball but bigger than a ping-pong ball.

Yes, and tennis-ball sized virii travel in giant globs of spit and mucus that are larger than beach balls in your metaphor. The problem with mask science is that people often wear them incorrectly or futz with them with their hands all the time, which reduces their effectiveness. Absent clinical controlled testing, we won't know the exact way these factors trade against one another, but it seems quite reasonable to think masks are at least partially effective.

I think that's the first time Ive seen "virii". I really like it.

That’s a weak attempt at sounding intelligent. The plural of “virus” is “viruses,” not “virii.”

There's been some talk in this thread about American's willingness, or reluctance, to take a vaccine when one is available. Here's the latest from their neighbours up north:

78%, although a large number of those are in the "not right away" camp.

I suspect American numbers may be lower, but I doubt as low as some of the <50% numbers I've seen.

Reminds me of the silliness we used to have here around poker bonuses, with people who insisted on using "boni".

However, how about the claim that you can also catch Covid because the mask holes are too big to stop it ? (Leaving aside the idea of a multi-layerd mask/fabric.)

(I personally wear a cloth mask, because it is common sense, the law and, according to The Donald in one of his more lucid tweets, "Patriotic".)

I suspect shortly after the soon to be a felon crazy lady (not like it will be hard to identify her) that people came to the aid of the woman on the ground and called ambulance and police, which is likely what those services would say is the correct procedure as opposed to grabbing a few packages of paper and trying to beat down the crazy lady to show her who rules the office supply store.
they got her

Police on Tuesday said they arrested a woman in the videotaped attack of a fellow customer who asked her to correctly wear a mask at a Hackensack Staples store. Terri Thomas, 25, was charged with aggravated assault, according to Hackensack police. The city resident was released ahead of a court hearing later this month.

Maybe. But it doesn't seem he knows too much about materials science. Many plastics are permeable to oxygen, too. But I doubt Dr. Middlebrooks would be eager to go around wearing a plastic bag over his head.
