@GovSisolak
: "We are monitoring other areas like pools and gyms." Emphasizes that face covering still need to be worn in these areas, except while actively swimming or in a high-intensity workout.

Also all food establishments can't seat more than 6 people at a table, even outdoors.

Walking is a high-intensity workout for some. If there are half-assed exceptions it's not a requirement.

First-hand account of how gov't shutdowns and customer attitudes are causing a former poker player to lose sleep as he acknowledges the uncertain times ahead.

"Over the past 5 weeks, our outdoor dining which can have up to 40 people outside, has been slow, our to go business that was thriving and allowing us to pay off our salaries and monthly expenses has completely died and I am confident the PPP loan our location received will dwindle to close to zero in the coming months, well ahead of when the government believes these funds should be rationed until..."

xpost CC.

another covid related poker casualty. Pretty sad. They built a great room / poker business there. I assume with fewer players allowed at each bacc table, allocating any of their table count to poker became too painful.

I was at Harrahs Rincon in So Cal last Saturday and it was a zoo. Honestly, felt uncomfortable how packed it was and little social distancing. There were guys taking off their masks shouting. Left after about 2 hours

I thought that there would be a way to do this safely. If they can't in California I don't see how it gets done in Nevada.

So much for me getting to the WSOP this year.

My next hope is Foxwoods if CT, NY, MA and RI get infection rates under control again. And they figure out contact tracing...

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo explains the "infection rate" formula that officials will use (beginning the first week of August) to determine which NY state schools can re-open and/or stay open.

From my understanding, Gov. Cuomo is saying that schools located in regions with a less than 5% "infection rate" will be given a provisional green light to re-open? But if that number subsequently escalates to a 7-day average of 9% or greater, then the schools will be forced to re-close?

"Schools will close if the regional infection rate is above 9% of a 7-day average."
[NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo]

Yes, that's what I heard. The only small thing that was unclear is that sometimes he said "under 5%", and other times "5% or less". I assume it will be the latter.

A surface-level analysis of current situation:

Good news: Arizona appears to have peaked in regard to cases (with peak of daily reported deaths set to follow in about two weeks).
Bad news: Texas, California, and Florida aren't projected to peak in confirmed cases for ten days to two weeks (end of July), so deaths will keep going up in those states until at least the middle of August.
Nevada is hardest to project due to the smaller sample size (smaller population, fewer cases, hospitalizations, deaths etc) but my feeling is that it will follow a similar pattern to the above, with deaths maxing out in mid to late-August (probably averaging <18 per day at peak. Florida's gonna be doing 130+, Cali might hit 150.). Emergency measures (or lack of them) could alter the projections considerably.

Some sick upswings:

Source: CovidTracking.com
Some machine-learned projections: C19Pro

Due to the weekend lag in reporting fatalities, it's possible the US as a whole will report 1000+ new deaths by close of business on Tuesday, causing a frenzy of headlines, and then average 700+ per day for the week.

I don't know the guy. I can't ever remember ever responding to any of his posts. But maybe I did at one time.

Its possible he knows me.

I'm just curious what I said that led him to say "fukc off".
