"The most miserable feeling in the world is to put in an 8 to 10 hour day working as hard as you possibly can, and then have a week's worth of salary taken away from you."

Exactly the same with trading...
I Insta-Lost 3 weeks profits in July (30K)...
Due to sheer stupid human error...
And am now methodically grinding it back...
It's torture.

People complain about poker issues in a vacuum...
When EVERYTHING in life is relative.

Most of the grinders complaining...
Would be otherwise be sitting in a tiny cubicle...
In the midst of an impersonal corporate culture...
And doing something totally mundane...
Just totally dead-ended in the Middle Class.

It's not poker or the Rock Star Life...
It's poker or Invisible Corporate Geek.

Yup! I play poker on the side and work in the real world. Try working 8-10 hours a day and feeling miserable when you get into work and when you leave. My whole work week is spent looking forward to the weekend. Think about that! Living for the weekend like I'm rushing my life away. And I have a good job!

I thought it was a good read, for a general read. I would think cash games is where someone would want to focus, but tournaments have a better bang for the buck when you win?

I'm sure it's crossed everyones mind, now and then, about just quitting your job and playing poker full time. It has definitely crossed mine. But the guaranteed paycheck, benefits, and the social aspect are important, and it allows me to play poker and other gambling forms as apart of my entertainment.

The guy who wrote the article knows what he's talking about. The only thing I think he left out was he didn't really mention the good parts of the job as much as he could have which more than makes up for the downsides which he listed (which were accurate). I think he should have mentioned the freedom to travel anywhere you want, whenever you want, see the world in a way most people never get the chance to, and to do that traveling with friends in a way that feels like college all over again except all over the globe.

Good read but some of the comments make me seriously laugh at some peoples logic. For example:

so will that article be like this

'wake up, turn pc on... play poker for 5 hours... get some food... play some more poker.. go to bed'

Because i cant imagine it being much different to that! for me personally laliberte just has it sorted. has a company, yachts, many homes, can play poker with illions and not care.... what a life

The part 2 link doesn't seem to be working. When I click on it, it just refreshes the part 1 page.
