in light of the GG and ACR threads, we're inevitably going to get 50+ variants of "what can we do about the bot/collusion problem?"

innovative solutions have been proposed, such as mail ordering ipads for every player, VR headsets, or $100k bounties for designing an undetectable bot to prove it cannot be.

can we skip the denial phase and agree the jig is up? that machines (and unscrupulous individuals) have sufficiently eaten the online pie? that to the extent they haven't, they will shortly?

2p2ers have long sought to hoover as much dough as possible from the poor fish who fancy themselves mike mcdermotts. machines now do this far more efficiently than mortals.

do we have a god given right to profit from the hapless fish? these are questions.

it was fun while it lasted!

online poker will survive for a few years even if nothing is done.

lol it's going to survive forever. people have been saying "it's dead" or "going to be dead soon" for literally over a decade now and games are still insanely soft with the exception of a small # of things like hu sngs, and even those are playable on a site like stars if you really want to grind them.

"online poker is dead" is something someone who has absolutely no idea what they're talking about says.

I agree, the games I play are insanely soft. That could be testament to how much I've improved relative to the field (god I hope so) but it could also just be that there will always be a subset of really bad players playing everywhere and the time-honored advice of game selection is still the most relevant thing ever.

Do you really think a ton of them aren't using RTA at this point?

Low stakes MTTs (sub $100 buyins) are still atrocious, you can still make decent-good money (60k+) if you are willing to put in the work.

What has hurt online poker the most is the destruction of legal play in the USA and all the other countries that you used to see a decent chunk of people logging in from.

With the USA alone, that's probably 100k semi regularlish people (a few times a week) missing, the other countries are another 100k

seems rational given winrates and overall profits at literally every stake/variant/format has been in linear decline. if you can't spot the trendline in the first decade at the table, you are the sucker.

i'm curious what games "are still insanely soft". enlighten me? stars hu sngs is a terrible example as there are near zero players making any significant money on them prerakeback. top stars sng players' earnings are down 70% over the last 3 years.
