If Guy and Benyamine played that 1.2M pot in 2020 it would likely be for $15,000

Dont worry. Guy sold 90% of his shares in 2015 for $1.5 billion

I know this is a long time ago, but didn't one of the HS players on 2+2 play in a season/episode of HSP and post behind the scenes details here? I just found it so hard to believe that every player there was playing those insane stakes with their own cash and money that wasn't provided for the show. Or it wouldn't surprise me if the actual stakes they played for was 1/5th or even 1/10th of what they played for on TV and they squared up after the game for the actual amount.

I mean I know the Big Game runs/ran at the Bellagio but some of the players who played really made me wonder if it was actually real. Like 100k-500k buy ins?! 5 mil+ on the table at once?! I know it was during peak poker boom but still. How the hell did Jamie Gold have the roll to play in a game that big with his disadvantage skill wise in a cash game, even with that huge ME bink? Especially since he did not have 100% of himself + the taxes. And how does someone like Gus play in that game when he is a multi million dollar loser online and was also one of the weaker players at that game. Was the FT monthly pay really that big to support playing on HSP + living their lifestyle + not to mention their other gambling degeneracy like Erick Lindgren who owes/owed huge amounts gambling? I mean we have a thread from a prominent "entertainer/player/persona" who was a regular on HSP talking about his debts.

Yeah, the ones who probably had an edge and/or the bankroll were on the show like Doyle, Ivey, Durrrr, Antonious etc and of course there were the whales with deep pockets like Guy, Meltzer, Klein, the crazy band guy etc but I just don't see how guys like Matusow, Hansen, Lindgren, Gold, Laak, Eli etc were able to play in that game.

Meet secretive Cirque du Soleil billionaire Guy Laliberté, a space tourist and former street performer

Talk about knowing when to fold em.

If he had held, he'd be walking away with pennies on the dollar.

Sold everything before the crash.

Quote:
In 2015 he sold 90% of his stock in the company.
On February 17, 2020, he sold the remaining 10%
Guy Laliberté knows how to spend it too.

Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run"

It was real money.

A lot of them were staked though or sold pieces of their action.

They also got paid ~$1k an hour.

In addition, they got money from sponsors like Full Tilt for wearing their logos.

They also built up their brand. And those shows surprisingly have had staying power. It’s still fun to watch.
