I've heard him say all his live buyins are paid for by Pokerstars, so he's on a lifetime freeroll. He's playing on PSNJ because that's where Stars wants him to do marketing. He's still a very recognizable figure in the United States, more than someone like mojave or Lex Velhuis.
I don't know how true this is. He had 50% of himself in the ME, so only 1.25 mill. I listened to a podcast -- maybe it was with Mike Sexton? Some old school guy. Anyways, Chris was playing $10k HU sngs at Binions or the Nuggets pretty soon after his win against old school pros while getting wasted. That's the only story I know, but surely there was more degening (he also spent $30k or so at a strip club after his win, where Devil Fish had to come bail him out because he didn't have the cash).
I'm sure the Stars sponsorship has helped bankroll him yearly to where he does fine, especially making up for the fact his Hendon Mob is pretty poor giving all the tournaments he must have played since 2004. But good chance he wasn't financially wise.
