Staking I can at least comprehend, but why so intelligent people continue to lend money to basically strangers? Is it some social pressure when you are a poker pro to help out a fellow pro?
If you and the lendor/lendee have a close personal relationship, I can see it being okay. I've had agreements multiple times with a friend where one stakes the other or we agree to share winnings. But we also definitely do NOT softplay each other, as we are both uber competitive and don't care about the +EV for playing against each other (there's usually a last longer bit included in these agreements that are more than the buyin lol)
Long story short, if you trust the person, go for it. If you don't know them well enough, just say "sorry, I don't know you well enough"
