No good deed goes unpunished.

Isn't there a website/thread of people who are reputable players? A similar one should be get started for players who you should never trust/deal with.

Seidel is a Sicko
Posted 25 minutes ago by donpeters • Level 21: 15,000-30,000, 5,000 ante

Erik Seidel raised to 72,000 from the cutoff seat and Chino Rheem called from the button. The flop came down AAK and Seidel fired 105,000. Rheem took a few moments and then called to see the 7 fall on the turn. Seidel fired again, this time making it 180,000. Rheem leaned forward and checked out Seidel's stack. He then took another look at his holecards before studying some more. After another two minutes or so, Rheem announced a raise and made it 405,000 to go.
After the turn raise from Rheem, it was Seidel's turn to go into the tank. He studied for a minute or so and then made the call. The dealer landed the 4 on the river and Seidel checked. Rheem took some time to himself before reaching towards his chips and pulling out a chunk. After shuffling and cutting some of his stack, Rheem announced that he was all in, having Seidel covered. Silence came over the crowd as Seidel sat in the tank for a couple minutes. Rheem's rail was on their feet anxiously awaiting what was happening.
After a couple of minutes [on epicpoker.com they claim Seidel tanked for 6 mins], Seidel adjusted himself in his chair and apologized to the table for taking so long. "Sorry guys," he said before studying for a bit more. Seidel had what looked to be approximately 725,000 behind. Finally, Seidel announced a call.
Immediately, Rheem tapped the table and Seidel tabled the 75 for two pair, aces and sevens. All Rheem could do was muck and began to count down the chips to send over. Seidel's stack was counted down to 740,000 and Rheem sent it over.
After sending over the chips, Rheem stood up, turned to his rail and said, "If I saw his hand, I'd do it again."

Prediction time. Mercier wins (good player and mega rungood)

edit: Maybe he doesn't run as good as I thought? He only has one other 7 figure score.

Is this where Chino makes a deal of some sort with the remaining two players and doesn't tell his backers/creditors the full details?

If 9th place paid $1,000,000 and you were staked for 50% you'd end up with roughly 350k after taxes. It's very conceivable you could get short of funds even after a 350k score.

what you guys said made sense. i just cant imagine the lifestyles some of these guys live to make so much money but burn it all fast. i mean if i have a 350k liferoll im putting 250k in the bank for life expenses. and have 100k poker bankroll for 5/10nl. i mean once you take out being greedy then you know that super high stakes are sick and really not needed unless your super rich and thats then considered fun. but for me 1000nl is just fine for a nice life.

get mad much? take a deep breath and tell us how much u lost lending to a poker player. or if u never lost any $ to one, then STFU. show some class, u sound worse than what u describe. bad look.

The way it works in poker and in some areas of life is that people who think like you don't make big scores. It is the same thing with people who used to say that they would get knocked out in 10 seconds by Mike Tyson like Michael Spinks did. The problem is that they would never be in a position to get paid millions to get knocked out by Tyson.

It is kinda the same thought process, and it is that thought process that generally keeps them from being in that once-in-a-lifetime spot. There are, of course, some who can do exactly what you stated. Not many in poker, though.
