So you are taking "full responsibility" but you mention how someone else (chips for charity) ran it for you. I could be wrong here but it doesnt sound like you are taking full responsibility.

You can tell by reading JW's posts that the guy is just crazy incompetent. His tone is all wrong in every post and they include some pretty ridiculous typos/misspellings. Pretty normal stuff, but not for people who are running charities or anything that involves any reasonable amount of money. I think he's probably just in way over his head and is piling up stupid mistakes on top of stupid mistakes.

Shaun,

I do sincerely apologize if you feel that I have been dishonest with you in anyway. I realize that nothing I can say is going to change how you feel, but I do promise you, whether you want to believe it or not, that I have not been dishonest, and I will have you reimbursed for the cost of those tickets. As I stated in my last post, i am at fault, because I should have never offered up a prize that we did not physically have, I should have only let the winners choose from the 7 concerts that were readily available at that time. After we did not receive the other 3 concert tickets from them we tried to get the situation fixed with Live Nation, but it took a long time. I am not trying to make enemies with you, and I am very sorry for the situation this has caused. I've stated it time after time, that we will fix this situation for you, and I understand that you feel you have to see it to believe it, but it will be corrected. If it can in any way help with the problem, I will even offer to let you play in a weekend event of your choosing for free in the future. I hope you understand that I want to resolve your situation and make you feel better about this organization and I hope that in the future it can lead to you posting good things about the events like many of the players that we currently have do.

Absolutly this should have been your initial and only response in this thread.

So you told Shaun that you never had the prize to begin with ?
No, we were given season tickets to Verizon Wireless, we received tickets for 7 concerts and were told that the second half of the season would come to us at a later date. He got to choose from 10 concerts, 7 of which were available right then and 3 which we would get later. Kid Rock was one of the 3 from later. We never received the second half of the tickets. therefore, what I was saying was that I should have only given out the 7 concerts that we actually had instead of offering the other 3 even though I was told we would receive them.

If this charity tourney organizer is so concerned with raising money for the charity, why does he state that he had "only" taken $10,000 in salary to run them.

Shouldn't he just donate his time and leave that 10,000 for charitable causes?

Why isn't UCA listing on any of the charity watch websites? A link to view or download the financial documents of your charity would be appreciated.

Seriously chill the **** out people and stop being judge and jury instantly, how many of you actually bothered to look up the charity before you respond to someone, the guy is trying to make things right he obviously made a mistake here but he clearly is not trying to scam someone over $100 or whatever it is. Stop jumping down his throat he's trying to defend his organization to prevent people from googling "ucare poker tournament" and having this thread pop up, not sure you realize how bad of publicity that is when it looks so far like a mistake was made but is being made right (and honestly the mistake was probably the fault of the ticketing company being scummy).

His father has ****ing cancer, this isn't some elaborate get rich scheme he's concocted, there are actually decent people in the world who make mistakes sometimes but let it play out before immediately ridiculing him for a stupid response on a forum.

If you only said this in your original response I'm sure most everyone would have been much more understanding, maybe even Shaun.

I hope you've learned something from this Jack and realize we as poker players don't appreciate being jerked around.

That being said, I feel bad that if and fact your organization is truly doing some good things for cancer victims that we all get past this and you can gain a positive image in the community.

P.S. Tell your lil dweeb friend, that was chiming in, he did nothing but inflame the situation with his dumb remarks.

Jack,
I checked out those sites you mentioned and they seem to be related to each other. Neither gives current reports for free and I am not about to spend $125 to get them. They also seem more like directories/collection portals than true review sites. Neither site offers a review.

The most current annual report available is 2009 and the expense to donation ratio is not good. The explaination that that was your startup year and due to that you had larger than normal expenses does make sense. How about posting a link to your current annual reports and Federal 990's? I cant find your 990's on any site. For those wondering:
Quote:
Form 990 is an annual reporting return that certain federally tax-exempt organizations must file with the IRS. It provides information on the filing organization's mission, programs, and finances.

Doublejoker I'm not sure if he meant "taken 10k in salary" or some amount as a salary and something to cover his expenses caused by this charity work. I think In general they didn't take care of this case well but perhaps labeling the organization as a scam is a bit of an overkill. There seem to be two opinions. If this thread grows and will come as one of the top results on google it could harm their reputation and this way provide less money to those in need. On the other hand people have right to know about complaints like this but perhaps changing the title from possible scam to something else would do the organisation more justice. Like said before the tone of his voice didn't really help .

Since this has started now it would be an good idea to provide a link Which shows how the charity is run or let us know if there are any reasons why you don't wish to make it public.

Has anyone notified any of this organization's sponsors yet? I have a friend employed by one of them so I will link that person to this thread. GL OP, hope you get paid and glad you brought this to light, effectively warning people not to associate with this organization and its events in the future. OP I also have contacts in the media in the Raleigh/Durham area. PM me if you would like me to put you in touch with them.
