Re: Celebrity and (non-poker)famous people you've played with. The more obscure the better!

Played with Brian Lara late one night at Treasury Casino, Brisbane. (Cricket superstar). Also played with Mprello (Australian apprentice winner). He was pretty wasted and was an absolute laugh. Kept including $1 chips in his bets even though the game was red chip purely for the Lolz.

And a few Paramatta Eels rugby league players such as Nathan Hindmarsh

Re: Celebrity and (non-poker)famous people you've played with. The more obscure the better!

One of the first times playing live was in a tournament in Mesquite, NV.

Two seats to my right was one of the tournament's organizers, Susie Isaacs. (Hey, you wanted obscure). She was very nice and seemed like a good player.

However it was the height of the poker boom, and I was a new, very low-limit player who had just gotten through watching her Hold'em video series a couple dozen times. In my mind, she was poker royalty. (Maybe she is).

Anyway, in a typical fish move, I ran a successful bluff on her, just to say I bluffed a WSOP bracelet winner. I thought it was cool at the time.

Also, (even more obscurely), in my small hometown's home game, I've played against Vance Johnson several times. He was one of the "3 Amigos" receivers for the Denver Broncos during their late 80's Super Bowl runs. Back in the 80's he was a national headline and crashed a Ferrari, so it was odd seeing him play in our little $50 tourney.

I played 1/3 with William Hung at the Wynn many many years ago (he sat right across from me). I remember I bluffed him out of a pot which seemed rather hilarious. He switched tables not long after....maybe went to the 2/5 or something...

Also played with her, was a mixed PLO/NLH tournament. I chatted with her out her deep run in the 2007 NBC HU tournament. She had beaten Rene Angelil, Jeff Madsen, Barry Greenstein and Humberto Brenes. In the semi final, she had Paul Wasicka all-in and drawing thin and he sucked out, then went on to win through to the final, beating Chad Brown.

How did he act lol? I'm genuinely curious.

How about you?
He was more famous for his VERY explicit sex photos with some of the biggest stars and singers that were leaked online. Apparently he took his laptop for repairs and it got hacked resulting in hundreds of his photos being distributed.
He quit the entertainment business after that.

Re: Celebrity and (non-poker)famous people you've played with. The more obscure the better!

A ton of MLB players, they come in to the casino after games and on off-days.

Johnny Cueto, Sergio Romo, Brandon Belt, Angel Pagan all playing together at my $1/3 table.
Just throwing money around. But Cueto slow-rolled Romo and Romo got really mad.
"He's an A**hole guys, this is what he does on the plane, he's a piece of Sh*t!, slow rolling mother..."
etc
Like they both stood up, and all of a sudden one of their handlers ran over and racked them both up, and told one to go to their room basically.

At first I thought they were screwing around, but it got real.

Pagan was "good" and very nice, they all were cool actually. Just not to each other

Re: Celebrity and (non-poker)famous people you've played with. The more obscure the better!

I played with Shane Warne but I think most people that have played any significant amount in Australia have probably played with him. He got moved about 90 mins into Aussie Millions main w/ ~3x starting and wouldn't stop complaining to the floor about being moved from his "amazing" previous table. Have played with various others but usually don't know who they are until after the fact (didn't know Warne) but he is almost certainly the most famous worldwide given the popularity of cricket and the level to which he played the game/persona.

I was playing a £66 buy in tournament on Friday in Luton when Willie Tann got seated on my right. Joe Beevers was also there playing cash, it was a nostalgia trip!

Don Cheadle, who folded two pair correctly some random spot and played reasonably well, but did seem tilted when someone stacked him for like 1k

Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon in the WSOP ME (RIP)

Got to tell Schoolboy Q I played his tracks on my stream lol, one of his friends was playing in a game I was at.

The night Sunset Station opened in 1997, I played at a Limit table with Suzie Isaacs; one of the dealers at the table was an as yet obscure Scotty Nguyen. (Scotty occasionally later used to come by Sunset and visit with Bobby "Sox", another dealer, which is the only reason I knew who Scotty was prior to his 1998 WSOP ME.)

I've played with Don Cheadle too. Really nice guy, didn't act like a big shot at all. He plays very tight and solid. He nitrolled someone in a PLO pot with a boat vs trips and tried to throw $500 bucks back to the other guy as an apology. He also stacked me in NL with flush over flush in a 3bet pot.

Played $1/2 at Casino Niagara with former Toronto Maple Leafs/Marlies player Andre Deveaux. Very nice guy, had a lot of fun talking hockey with him. Didn't recognize him or know who he was until he said his name.

I knocked Rafael da Silva (Man Utd footballer) out of a tournament a couple of years back.

As a Leeds fan it really made my day!

Re: Celebrity and (non-poker)famous people you've played with. The more obscure the better!

My "celebrity" story is playing $2-$6 spread limit holdem in a bar in Billings, Montana on some weekday afternoon with Wilford Brimley. He was my RHO, was trying to be the table captain at the start, playing pretty loose-aggressive and rarely folding. Then some really gamb00ly guys showed up, as in these guys were so loose and got the table so loose that the $300 maximum pot rule that was Montana law at the table came into effective multiple times in a game with a maximum bet of $6. Wilford turned into a complete nit, then left to go back to his ranch in northern Wyoming when his wife was done at the beauty salon.

He probably thought that Tilly won an academy award. She was nominated for her role in Bullets Over Broadway.

But she did not win.

Played at a final table next to Lon Mcarren. His jokes were as corny/non funny as on the wsop brodcasts. He was the only one that laughed each time.
