I played 5/10 NL with Jamie at the Wynn literally a day or two before the 2006 ME started. He was still a no name at that point in time, but he was the EXACT same way as he was during the series. He was obnoxious, playing crazy hands, talking during every hand he played, antagonizing players in hands with him, and absolutely drilling everything he played. This was a super loose, deep stacked game for 5/10 because of this. Every stack was at least 2 or 3K deep with a few well over 10K.
I remember one hand after he had tangled with another reg a few times and it had gotten pretty heated verbally. Jamie was about 8K deep and the reg had 7500 or so. Jamie raised pre to $50 utg and then called a 3 bet of $200 from the reg who had position on him. 3 players saw the flop. Flop was A25 rainbow. Some action on the flop between the two. Turn was a blank and they got their stacks in on the turn after a lot of talking from Jamie. River blank. Reg had AA and of course Jamie had 43 off. Jamie rakes in a 15Kish pot after calling a $200 pre 3 bet and flopped the nuts against top set. A fight almost broke out after that, lol. Alan Boston was at the table as well.
You know the rest of the story from there. I was stunned when I saw him on TV dominating the ME shortly after this, while playing the same crazy style of cards and using the same type of table talk.
