I think you underestimate the impact some crazy guy can have on peoples life. Stalkers in western countries make people's life hell all the time as there is little that the law can do against them. Beating them up will turn you into a criminal instead, although the police in thailand probably won't care too much if there are only foreigners involved unless someone gets killed.

Upping security and hiring a guard / bodyguard that's not useless is probably the best strategy.

Sounds very serious. What about gathering as much evidence as possible, bring it to a Criminal solicitor and ask him to accompany you to the Police?

Yeah, those cliffs sound a lot closer to what I had imagined that guy to be. However, I don't deny he could still be very dangerous in a psycho kind of way even if not in a direct personal confrontation way.

I've never been to Thailand, so I'm mostly going from what I know of its economy/policies and definitely making a ton of assumptions and generalizations that could be poorly weighed, missing a lot of other factors or straight up wrong, so I don't doubt it could be much harder than I make it sound.

The main thing though, is that if this guy is really making a lot of people's lives that miserable, something should definitely be done, and it seems unlikely you guys have absolutely no solution to your problem.
I mean, he's doing semi-dangerous stuff but he doesn't sound like someone who should be able to get away consequence-free with bullying an entire community.

If anything he's getting people to do stuff based purely on financial incentive, but I doubt he'd have people backing him up and claiming revenge in his name just because of who he is.
At least from that description, he doesn't exactly sound like a mean overpowering gangster boss, more like a cowardly bum getting away with way too much.

the prupose is to let people know he is a scammer obv. A picture of him with a nametag saying "Hi, my name is Cedric Brazeau and I'm an hacker"? You realize that in those situation, it's quite hard to have any concrete proof except if the hacker is an idiot whom confess his crime via skype or whatever? And Cedric is not an idiot.

The fact is some people got their computer hacked. Everyone are related with Cedric. Some of Cedric's friends betrayed him after being asked for help to hack others.

Obv, 90%+ of the story is missing there... but the fact is that poker player in Thailand need to worry about him: reformat your laptop if you've been in touch with him and factory reset your cellphone.

the guy has admitted to hack/scam in the past... he should be hated just for that in the first place, so who cares if this occasion is true or not... this is a warning, take it or leave it.

I've met poker players in other countries but I thought it was pretty cool that there are substantial 2+2 communities in Phuket/CM/BKK and people are willing to help out, share info, and just hang out. From the BKK people I met, it's a pretty normal and chill group, and that is not that easy to find in that part of the world. If I was moving anywhere to play poker, this would be a huge plus.

It's unfortunate that some people do their best to screw things up and require everyone to be on lock-down mode. I hope you guys figure out a permanent solution to this problem.
