This is going to make a great movie. Maybe they can incorporate into rounders II. Ok now lets get serious what is the over/under on years sentenced. Lets start and 5-7 years out in 4.

Awesome police report. This guy makes the Lufthansa Heist crew look tight-lipped.

I'm confused why it took so long to take him into custody. It sounds like the casino had him under surveillance as early as the beginning of January, but he continued to cash in chips for a whole month. The cops even discuss purchasing several chips off him and getting him to admit to being the perpetrator, but they didn't arrest him.

From the report it sounds like they had enough evidence to bring him in way earlier than they did, and I'm having trouble figuring out what they were hoping to gain by waiting longer.

No way, armed robbery with a gun bro! He's gonna get minimum 25 years if he's lucky. He robbed 2 casinos with a gun. They are gonna throw 15-20 different counts at him.

When he gets out the Bellagio will be a memory to us all and something else will be standing in it's place on LV Blvd.

Cliffs: Bellagio slow played the arrest in order to reclaim more chips

Las Vegas PD ignored witness security and whored me out. I am getting a lawyer and telling my family to do the same. Vegas PD should have redacted large portions of the arrest report that are not relevant to public disclosure. They failed to do so and put people at risk unnecessarily, namely my family. To be continued.. I spoke with 2 lawyers tonight and am on the warpath. My family has paid taxes and followed the law for several decades. Now my cooperation puts their existence at risk.

Huh. For an oxy'd up degen criminal without much common sense or even poker prowess, he sure talks a lot like the average NVGer...

This is the ****ing sickest thing ever, my mouth actually hung open as I just read the last 2 days or so of posts, epic is the only word to describe this.

Well done and all, but aren't your lawyers telling you to STFU? Everything you post here you can be cross-examined about later, or could be used against you, for example to deny you a reward or to beat back any lawsuits you might decide to file.

I doubt you are in any danger. The guy was (from all appearances) not a gang member, and he was such a fudup they would have eventually caught him without your help.

Why would B have slowplayed the arrest any more than they had to? Letting known armed madmen roam your hotel is a huge liability risk.

After reading the article yesterday in the las vegas sun where they mentioned your name what seemed to be dozens of times, I couldn't help but think how crazy that was. I just kept thinking to myself that I sure as hell wouldn't want my name out there with a guy who is obviously at the bare minimum mentally deficient. Good luck with your lawsuit, but if I were you I would talk to my lawyer about commenting about the case in this thread or any in other way for that matter. It doesn't seem wise. After all, that is how this joker got caught!! Just my 2 pennies.

Provotrout:

Yes, I well understand that you, a good Samaratin in this case, wound up being unprotected and outed. I would think you have a legal case against the LVPD, but your attorney can check case law and let you know how to proceed. I feel for you and your family...it's absolutely wrong that you have to spend money to "defend" yourself.

Re Corleo...he must have an IQ of 62 which, in addition to being caught, is one reason he lost so much. can you smeel a FISH? Wish I were in that 10-20 game.

Justices Rule Police Do Not Have a Constitutional Duty to Protect Someone

Quote:
The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm, even a woman who had obtained a court-issued protective order against a violent husband making an arrest mandatory for a violation.

This is unbelievable!
02-05-2011 , 12:32 PM
It basically just means you can't sue the cops for ****ing up in failing to protect someone. There have been cases like this in the past.

I'm really surprised by LVMPD outing Provotrout like that. If I were in a similar position, with regard to information about a crime in their jurisdiction I would be very, very hesitant (though I still would probably) to come forward knowing they will do nothing to protect my anonymity once they get what they want from me. Bad play by them for sure.

You can sue for negligence i imagine. When a cop doesn't give you warning that you'll be outer publicly Ina case that may involve organized crime I imagine a few judges around the country would view that as irresponsible conduct. An abdication of fiduciary responsibility.

That being said, I was stressed and worked up last night. I've talked with the lawyer in my family. He's not worried about my safety and is mostly making fun of me for accepting interviews, but he acknowledges the need to do so given the reward. I'm public now so why not try to claim a portion of the reward?

At this point I have no intention of suing Vegas PD. They ran a good investigation for a month Only to make a rookie mistake with the release of info in the police report.

If I sue them successfully the cops don't really pay, it just drains resources from a struggling state.. Not a great result all things considered.

Good for you to take the high road, Did you talk with the AP reporter that posted here?..He have another angle of the story or just the same story?
02-05-2011 , 04:35 PM
Yeah I gave him an interview. And a tv news interview last night for Vegas abc station. Honestly I don't think posting here hurts the case. I'm not a criminal, I've been open and honest in dealings both on 2p2 and with law enforcement and the media. The only difference is that I don't mind sharin info with the 2p2 community. You guys have helped my poker game a lot and there are a lot if solid people on these forums.. You guys deserve to know what happened on my end.

I'm no vigilante but I do carry concealed so any confrontation that might arise from my openness in the media will not be as easy as picking off a random witness. That being said I think the risk is Pretty remote. Call me naive but that's my gut feeling.

Troutster:
I just registered here so I could thank you for your part in this wonderfully entertaining story. Best real-time account of Epic Stoopidity in recent memory. Please start writing your (whimsical,) screenplay forthwith!

Kudos also to the excellent police reportage. This whole saga has been a most appreciated diversion on a blustery Sierra morning.

Cheers!
