Pre-covid, Canada had several notable tournament series running across the country, with WPTs in Niagara and Montreal and WSOP circuit events in other provinces, along with lots of other tournament series in those regions.

However since the pandemic, all tournaments series have stopped running and I have yet to hear anything regarding when/if any of those will start running again, despite any remaining covid restrictions being lifted last month(with most restrictions being lifted months ago).

Tournament series have resumed operating almost everywhere else, and I'm sure there is huge pent up demand for some live tournaments across the country, especially now with the restricted Ontario online market. Has anyone heard any news or rumors regarding when any series will start running again?

Pure (Alberta) which has a $2200 "super high roller".... best we can do under the Trudeau economy.
full range of events seen here :

you can still catch most of it if you book a last minute flight / rev up the party van and head due north right now

but yah given that uncle sam is going to eat 30% of your winnings, playing live tourneys in Canada has to be a pretty attractive option, no? decent cash game action on the side as well.

The best Canada can do is a 1k CAD 400k gtd series? Meanwhile the Wynn WPT is putting up a 10k USD 40m gtd... Still don't get why the big live series that used to run in Niagara and Montreal just died after covid.

Alberta will have the best mtts like wsopc in Jan and also the softest. Only cash games that run are really plo though, very little 2/5+ NL games.

Calgary is a cool city for poker in Canada. I'd rank cities in Canada for poker: Calgary, Montreal, and Regina. Regina is better than you'd think.

Calgary has a great poker scene. Tons of rooms, low rake, good action.

Maybe not the best for bigger games, but its solid overalll.
