Yes, because they were prepared for a catastrophic action taken by the DoJ. Without the action of the DoJ, do you think AP wouldn't be paying US players?

Considering that UB has ended up bankrupt, I wonder why they chose to stop serving US players? I mean, if they stayed in the US market or attempted to re-enter the US market, could they be in worse shape?

Well even if stars tells you they had segregated funds pre-bf there is no way of knowing that for a fact. I'd say it's more likely that not 100% of the funds used to re-pay US players came from the business itself but rather from the owner's pocket.

If FTP had been owned by only one responsible person and not 15 gamblers they prob aren't in the mess they are in now. And as for AP/UB well let's face it: Scott Tom and Brent Beckley have your money sitting in Panama and Antigua bank accounts.

they didn't have any money to run a business with a scared player base. They needed atleast 20m+ to have a chance to do anything. 5m was just enough for DOJ deal+lawyers.

Not exactly true, actually. Someone was interviewed on the Pokercast (don't remember who) saying it was really difficult for him to get a wire off the site after binking an FTOPS event.

Just got this email.. Think its a different variation of the one posted before.. What do they mean by, "qualified players"?

Thank you for contacting us.

We understand that there is some speculation circulating about the current status of account withdrawals for Non-US players. For you personally, we recognize that this raises some concern about your pending payout at Absolute Poker/UB and why it is taking longer than usual to complete.

At this time, we must advise you that all Non-US player payouts currently in the queue for processing have been placed on hold. This decision has been taken in the interests of expediting the process of distributing funds to all qualified players. We want to assure you that the distribution of player funds has been, and remains, our highest priority.
To this end, you should know that we are currently in active discussions with a number of parties about potential sales opportunities, and we continue to work diligently to devise a solution that will allow us to distribute funds to players. This has been, however, a complicated process, and the determination of appropriate mechanisms for the safe and efficient distribution of funds to players has proven to be an especially difficult task.

Nevertheless, despite a series of formidable obstacles, we believe that we are close to finalizing a well-considered process of distributing funds to players that will be fair for all account holders. We expect, therefore, to issue a statement in the near future, providing the details of this process. Please understand that ongoing legal negotiations have restricted our ability to communicate publicly more frequently about these matters. We hope that you will understand.

We appreciate your patience during this difficult period, and we will provide you with further information at an appropriate time in the near future.

Great, a "fair" solution from UB. This can't be good.

Would 'Qualified players' mean US players? I don't see what else it could mean...

Which would be sad for us ROW-players...
11-08-2011 , 03:19 PM
prob not
11-08-2011 , 04:26 PM
Qualified players could mean just about anything, but I sincerely doubt it mean US players only.

I agree. More likely, it's high rake producing non-US cash game players.

Ok GTD's have been basically dead/offline/closed for a dew days now. At least they closed that leaking hole as most of them were paying out 30-40% more than they brought in, due to overlay.

GTD's stopped Sunday Morning.
I emailed support and received a reply stating they were having technical difficulties and were working to fix the problem, Several players I talked to can't get their money off the site either.
Pretty sure they are busto. It's safe to say you can only run so long like they have losing the $$$ and eventually you have to shut it down.
Play chip ring games are still going and 0.02 / 0.04 cash table as well as the odd .05 / .10
Play chip tournies have also ceased.
We will never get a straight answer out of these guys.
