Everyone needs the American fish back in the game, most of all Americans.

I mean, it's not entirely untrue. We'd be much better off if it were America only or America + some of the regulated countries. Stars.com can keep everyone from countries that can support themselves playing .05 .10 cash games.

First off, the chance of any bill being passed that combines the U.S. with the international player pool is going to be pretty slim. The discussion here is about allowing PokerStars to offer their product in the U.S for only U.S. residents and/or partner with a land-based casino. I don't even know why people keep making these 3rd world country comments.

Second off, even if international player pools were on the table here, that would certainly be a good thing. Do you see how poor the liquidity is on Nevada and New Jersey sites? Of course things would be better with the entire U.S. able to play together, but combining with an international player pool is certainly better for everyone. Was online poker better when it was one huge player pool, or now?

Fwiw I'm from the U.S.

Because any time Stars is brought up the first thing mentioned is "ZOMG! Can we play w/ everyone else?" (that's never going to happen, btw)

I'm all for international player pools, just not international player pools that include countries that bring little to no fish to the table. The thing is, most regulated countries that America would be likely to pair with have a similar or higher cost of living than we do here, which is a good thing for game quality. It makes it tough to get to higher stakes when new players can't even beat the micros because of rakeback grinders from Belarus playing 10NL making a good living.

Online poker was better before, but the current US sites are easier than Stars in 2010 when I first started online. If you were to reintroduce the American's back to the international pool it'd be a feeding frenzy. The American's that haven't played on Stars in 4 years are so far behind it's not even funny. (obviously there are exceptions)
