For the record, while random posting of PMs without permission is frowned up, particularly if you are just trying to slur someone, when you actually admit to what you're being accused of in a PM, we aren't going to delete that so you can erase your own confession.

I think you were dead on in that 2k post thread by noting how the masses are basically sheep and believe what they are told and want to believe (confirmation bias ftw).

Basically, we (the online community) faithfully believes that online poker is above reproach and jeers anytime somebody points out something strange going on. Granted, there are plenty of people who come in with their tin foil hats, but we're super naive to think of online poker as more immune to cheating than live poker.

Id be happy to have him on, let him field live calls from the community and I think hed find my opinion about what he did is more blase than hed imagine. Its the lying and smoke screening that gets me. He thinks hes doing it to "protect the game" but he couldnt be more wrong imo.

No, I doubt he'll do anything so public. But he's been clear he's willing to talk privately, so I suggest you take him up on it. Engage him privately and press him a little bit.

As for him believing he's doing it for the good of poker, I don't think he's dumb enough to think that. Rather, it feels like he's trying to calculate what argument might sway some other powerful opinions. There are those in the community who would rather poker didn't get further black eyes, and I imagine he's trying to appeal to that sentiment.

I just keep reading the Bakes PM... I can't get over it. Honestly thought Brian was dece guy, and that he would recover from this, but that PM sent to Bakes is just an ******* being an *******. Plain and simple. Brian if you are reading this thread, I hope you can fix what is right, not only with the poker world, but with yourself. It's a sad situation all around.

The difference between me and others is I knew there was a lot of cheating going on a party poker during the boom. i was recruited to cheat, i knew people who were cheating. The games were also amazing and i played as many hands as humanly possible but i never kept quiet about the cheating going on there. Others would say to me, "shut up about that ****", "it hurts the game", "people wont deposit", "well handle it ourselves". I never believed any of this crap, it all seemed like smoke-screening to me and I knew it didnt protect the game.

I think he is probably just responding like that. I am sure he knows what he did was not right,but I think he believes that going forward what good will it do to make this into a big huge thing. It's not going to help anything so he is sayin why make it so big that it gains so muh attention and casts a dark light over poker. I mean it's like anykne who does something wrong. They know the are doing it they just hope not to get caught. They figure the risk may be worth the reward so why not take a chance? I mean if u were going to counterfeit money would u counterfeit $10,000?? U probaly bet the same jail time if u counterfeit 10 million so u may as well do the bigger amount. U also have to remember when a person is depressed sometime they are not thinking as clearly about life decisions as they should be. We should have some type of understanding before we hang the guy.

yup, it's hilarious how this Hastings cheating thing spawned from him going ham on someone for possibly/maybe angle shooting. The hypocrisy and delusion is mind blowing.
