and hastings is SCUM for multiaccounting (while telling people he was), but it's ok to look at people's cards and take advantage when they stream them

and you wonder why you lose at poker

Would that be a solid enough reason? I know it's the beloved isildur and all.
This makes absolutely no sense to someone (me) who do not care about isildur and have therefore not followed this (or his other) issues beyond what's being said ITT.

Basically the case for isildur-scumminess that has been made by JM and you here are as follows:

A player was cheated, asked that the site look into the cheating and having done so the player (whom the site presumably found had indeed been cheated) got back the money he was cheated out of.

Therefore the player who got cheated is scum!

That's supposed to make sense? And whether or not he asked for the investigation is somehow a deciding factor in scumminess?

I assume there is more to it than that and I'm pretty sure that is what's confusing others ITT and what prompted the post you answered in a way that just makes it all much more confusing.

if viktor was routinely ma'ing then it is scummy to accept losses confiscated by the site because his opponent was ma'ing. i haven't read through anything except the last two pages but i dunno why people are arguing about this ?

I also have no idea, but if it's true that viktor himself prompted the investigation then it's scummy x12534125613462346

Can someone please create a sticky listing the bigger name poker pros to whom a scandal of one kind or another has never been associated. The list I keep of scandal-tainted pros is getting too long.

I can't believe that someone can misinterpret such an easy concept, it baffles me.

a) Dan did not bring this issue into the open it happened years ago was outed then and has been reported on (google is your friend). He is not airing other people's business. Since it is well known and widely reported Dan's integrity or opinion cannot be questioned as it has nothing to do with him. It is widely known.

b) if someone is multi-accounting others to gain an unfair advantage, has the same thing done to them, is outraged reports it to the site they were playing on and has the money he lost returned to him I would call that scummy.

Or as BatDodge put it

This is exactly what happened.

Still hard to follow?

I would think most people with a normal view of the ethics and rules around such things when asked 'what did isildur do wrong?' would answer 'he MAed' and not 'he reported someone for MAing'.

+1

If everyone immediately reported cheating of all kind (regardless of who was doing it) and rebelled against it there would, in time, necessarily be less of it. Instead, the go-to response seems to be to rationalize or excuse and, of course, this has resulted in scandal after scandal after scandal. Surprise.

From his new blog post:

Since the WSOP, I’ve been at a weird crossroads. ... I’m also goal-oriented and see very few interesting goals I can set going forward with poker. ... I know many people who love their jobs, and in 2015 I’d have to say very few are poker players ... Going forward, I plan on diving into a few other potential career paths (with a clear mind and Sonya’s love and support) and relegating poker to part-time status ... I still love the game itself, but the economic and political forces driving it have left it in a place in which I just can’t continue to focus on it and remain happy/sane.

BH is sad this makes me sad

Also when he goes part time will all his accounts too. This could be another blow for online prizepools. If hastings played the WCOOP main event they wouldn't have missed their guarantee by 5 players

A poker player shouldn't be demonized for saying or believing that "Canadians are better at covering up for multi accounters on the site they work for" What is offensive about that?

He will still be full time. He is now only going to play only 10% from his first account, (stinger88 or whatever it is) and he will play the other 90% on the 9 other accounts he has made in the last year.

He just wants us to think hes only part time...
