Among some of the many changes, Mike (Known as Matt) plays Phil Hellmuth in the famous Johnny Chan bluff scene.

I just read the whole thing.

Amazing, IMO.

Read the whole thing and really enjoyed. A number of notable changes but all the most famous scenes and lines are mostly identical.

The biggest differences are a lot more scenes and backstory with worm and a more drawn out first scene. Was he playing heads up against Teddy in the first scene of the movie? I forget but in the script it’s a full ring game. They also play in a scene where Mike/Matt willingly cheats playing with Worm.

Kinda funny that the main character’s name in the script is Matt considering Matt Damon played him in the movie.

Thanks for this, one of my favourite movies of all time and I didn't even know how to spell poker at the moment I first saw it.

They were 4-handed iirc, game broke after Mike McD busted.

I have not read this script yet, but there is a scene in the released movie where that happens, against the rich college types.

I haven't read it yet, but intend to. Thanks for posting. I read the book (got it for a quarter in a used book store) and remember there being an epilogue of sorts that went beyond the movie. Mike being successful in Vegas, if I remember correctly. It was a long time ago. Eager to see if that's in the script.

Just read the first scene and think the film's editor did a decent job shortening it. There's still too much exposition in the film, but not as much as in this script.

No extended ending in this script last scene is still him telling his ex he’s going to Vegas

So at which point were they meant to be playing PLO?

None of those sophisticated euro games in this script

They cheat the cops in the elk room and get the **** kicked out of them. Mike didn't cheat but worm did.

Yes but there is an earlier scene in the script (and I guess the movie too) where Mike is complacent in cheating with Worm
