I do feel for Brad.

"When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you've got no secrets to conceal
How does it feel, ah how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home
Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone"

He was probably in the lab studying PIO and lost track of time

He still should have let his family know what was going on. No pity party for this guy at all. Debt or no debt or whatever, very selfish move that should not be celebrated.

Depression (assuming he has it) can make you believe no one cares anyway. Perhaps he had plans to top himself and couldn’t go through with it

I disagree he cannot reinvent himself. He has some charisma and intelligence and many working years to live. Just quit gambling Brad. That’s over now. The world has so much more to offer

Agree with what someone mentioned earlier. What if Brad never liked /discovers poker. What does his life look like now? Probably better than it actually does. Taking poker far too seriously is not good for most people

When you say he's got many working years to live, do you know how old he is?

No. But I assume about 40

Good to hear he is ok.
He was pizza delivery driver before he hit his hot run, but you're right after doing what he has done for about 20 years it's hard to sleep regular hours and keep a schedule. Also working for near minimum wage at a similar job would be depressing knowing that he spent that a day on food and other expenses for fun.

Do we at least get to find out what he did for these two months? Did he hunt for food? How did the (allegedly) the homicide unit get involved? Did he try to fake his death and was caught?

Very, very unusual story.

They may just automatically get homicide detectives involved if the missing person owes money to a ton of people.

I can imagine several situations where it would make sense. I don't know him but I am glad to see he is alive. Without the whole story I see no reason for anything but relief.

My initial thought upon hearing that bit is that a smaller department might have investigators who devote their time to other crimes. But this was Reno, not exactly Mayberry, so that wouldn't make sense.

I'm also skeptical about the homicide unit being a part of this, since the only place we heard it was in some random post in this thread. But for what it's worth, Reno PD's unit is technically Robbery/Homicide, which suggests RHU investigators look into other cases beyond deaths.

In any case, the contact person from the department was Tazy Ciofalo, who serves as a CSO according to the department's own annual report. And the phone number to call belonged to the Missing Persons unit. Best I can tell, that never changed. And no, that doesn't rule out someone from RHU getting involved, but to me, it makes it slightly less likely.

Found this interview with Brad from the 2014 WSOP. Very open, honest and from the heart about his time in the poker boom and what he wishes he had done differently.

Never knew about Brad’s problems with UB. Did multiple five figure transfers with Brad back in the day and he always sent first without issue. Always came across as a genuinely good dude. Nobody was ready for Black Friday. Hopefully he got some of that back when they finally paid out.

The only way Brad can move forward is to let the UB scandal go. Also, Come to the dark side Brad.. We need drivers at UPS! Can make well over 100k/year, plus free benefits and pension!

sounds like he's in rehab or a "care" facility of some sort...
