Casinos aren't nearly as smart as you might think. Especially when the casino legally can (and OPENLY does) give preference to hiring based on skin color instead of competence. (it's called tribal preference)
What a weird number to randomly use as an estimate.

Look at an NFL running back like MJD they are the same height and weight as him and then tell me he is 25 pounds overweight. Im talking the same fitness body fat ratio of an elite athlete. Not Joe Couch Potato who eats sort of right.

At some point he will be shut down once the airport police spread his picture nationwide. In before he switches gears:

This exactely.

So many people act like is the next antichrist, while all he is is just a very very pathetic human being.

I don't think he's the worst criminal in the world, but he's not a beggar. He is claiming to be "borrowing" hundreds of dollars from victims.

Re: Borovetz at it again

Anyone that thinks Mike falls in the same category of common panhandlers should read the original thread. He's been caught pulling his scams within the secured area of airports, meaning that he already had at least enough money for a ticket just to get in. He's also obviously fooled many people on single trips, which means he was still scamming people with hundreds of dollars in his pocket. It is a completely premeditated scam that he's been pulling for years.

I'm not sure why so many people here have such hard time understanding the difference between begging and scamming, but it's really not very tricky. It's okay to ask people for money for a charity. It's not okay to ask people for money for a charity and then spend it on a big screen TV. It's okay to ask people for money to invest in a new business. It's not okay to ask people for money to invest in a new business that doesn't actually exist and then vanish with the money and retire to a tropical island. This should not really be a very hard concept to grasp.

The amount of money involved is also important to most rational people as well as in the eyes of the law. It does not cost hundreds of dollars to buy a bottle of wine, which is a pretty obvious difference between a lying panhandler and a con man. That being said, I think most people would still agree that it's much worse to lie when begging than to be honest when begging, regardless of the dollar amount.

Re: Borovetz at it again

When you give a homeless beggar a few bucks its assumed you will never get it back, its a gift not a loan. Theres no scam there. Mike is asking for a loan under false pretenses, with no intention to pay back. This is a scam. See the difference?
Edit: good post above me

Not weird/random at all.

Odds of being dealt a blackjack, 1 in 21. 21 hands times 6 coupons = 126 total hands played on average.

I'm sure I didn't play exactly that, but that's a number that's probably pretty close.

How old are you?

That dude looks dusty as hell for his age.

If you look closely at the booking photos, notice they are all taken at different times. His first one on the 9th he is in street clothes, then the others are taken in the county orange, but, still all different. $2500 and $2000 bonds.. yikes!

Borovetz is hated now but history will remember him as a trailblazer when the laws are changed to allow panhandling at airports.

Re: Borovetz at it again

So he is a desperate petty thief. That is low and its sad. At least he isn't a complete **** who goes around kicking women in the face, achieving nothing of true worth despite having endless free money and boasting about things that only a kid would find cool. Someone like that is a real write off of a human. This guy is weak and pathetic, the other is vile and pathetic.

.... because Kim Kardashian doesn't play poker and commit fraud in airports.... although, oddly enough, she has paraded past the Venetian poker room each of the last two years on her birthday.

Re: Borovetz at it again

What probably happened was his first book was such a success that the publishers were begging for a sequel. So he had to try his scam again to try and get a narrative going based on real-life events. I'm looking forward to this years New York Times best seller.

He's too famous in Vegas. He has to move around from city to city so he can maintain some level anonymity.

What's funny is that he claimed in one of the other threads that he was moving away from Vegas so that he could start his recovery, but he was clearly moving because it was the only way he could continue scamming.

Re: Borovetz at it again

I used to always get my ass kicked in MTTs when I ran into this dude or TIMEX back in like 08. So I was getting taken by an airport beggar and a 16 year old, life is good.

Re: Borovetz at it again

I'm one of the suckers who expressed sympathy towards him here for his addiction. We PM'd, then spoke on the phone. He never asked me for a dime and we tried to go to a GA meeting together but he got cold feet.

He was genuinely devastated for what had become of his life. He was articulate, thoughtful, and sad. And he was brutally honest about how bad off he was.

If you argue "it's not an addiction!", maybe you're right ... I'm not an expert, just a recovering drug addict alcoholic trying to reach out to a fellow addict.

Call me an idiot, but talking to Mike felt like the right thing to do. I'd do it again. And if that makes me a chump, then so be it.

You're not a chump for wanting to help Mike. Those who wanted to help Borovetz are fine. It is those that are/were loudly defending him, justifying what he did and arguing that it isn't a crime, or that it is victimless who are scummy. Or someone like Alan "Chainsaw" Kessler, who not only enables him, he takes money from him that he knows in one form or another is the fruit of scamming and stealing, who were the real bottom-dwellers of the last thread.

he's taking his one-man show around the country. this will promote his book, as well as motivate him to write it.
