I think the players that are left should play it out , and everyone who busted out who did not make the money should get their refund back for the buy in, there is no real right resolution here. Everyone feels like they got cheated (they obviously did ) and it will be a nightmare for the Borgata with whatever happens, and yes they will take a hit on the tourney but not really because they make millions of dollars everyday from all the other games, so I think they will be just fine with taking a little hit on tournament. And if they need to figure out who got paid yet and who didn't well TOUGH! This is something that happened on their turf and they need to step up and deal with this crap. And yes I did play this event on day 1A and at one point had a few weird looking 5k chips but I never said anything just kept playing on but thought it was a bit weird.
Watch this be some huge misunderstanding where Borgota used 5k's from another chip set because they were running short and then all hell broke loose
The amount of chips in play do not match the amount of chips that should be in play.
Should be 96,240,000 chips in play. They have 97,370,000 chips in play. So 1,130,000 fake chips are in play.
How is a chip chop better than playing it out at this point?
I don't know that it is, it was just a suggestion to maul over. Can you imagine the headline if the perpetrator goes on to win the thing and is later sued once found out? The headline if they facilitate a chop/refund combo wouldn't be friendly, either, but it's definitely a situation where the directors are forced to choose between all (+/-) equally unpalatable options.
what does it matter if all non-cheating players were on the same playing field? all non-cheating players were not on the same playing field as cheating players.
I mentioned the fact that some cheats may unfortunately prosper if they are not discovered. Context is everything my friend.
Pretty ironic me and another player were talking about how easy it is to cheat in a tourney like this (take off chips from your stack on day 1a and use for pher starting day)
He mentioned the master being there and how he has been known as a cheat. 24 hours later this happens ha.
So realistically... Percentage of a chance of a refund?

I think almost zero. No way any room can afford such a large hit. All you can hope for is them finding the cheat. Sad stuff. Is/was it a staffing problem. Were chips left out of site of floors when tables broke?

Play the tournament out while reviewing the tapes. Suspend payment until investigation, pay out as normal unless someone is implicated.
Then reach into casino coffers and refund the buyin of everyone who played and did not cash, plus a free buffet, as long as they sign a waiver not to sue.
Then ban Men the Master and everyone he can be directly financially linked to in this tournament because it's private property and the Borgata can ban anyone they want to for any reason.
And if it turns out someone else did it and they are caught, it's still a win/win.
I think paying out $2.5 million may be worth it to Borgata rather than face legal prosecution, but IANAL. i am mold
I've known 5k chips for years. We come in contact once in a while at tournaments. They've been nothing but great to me and I have a hard time believing this is true.
I think we should all calm down until there is a proper investigation before we start slandering such a good denomination chip.
My buddy who is still in the tourney (he is top 10 and has never had a 5 figure score) called me this morning and said he felt like he was gonna faint and throw up about the situation.
Not to mention, he took days off of work, will now miss his flight tomorrow, and will have to explain to his boss why he is not coming in tomorrow night and possibly sunday.
What a joke this is. He got comped free room for tonight and tomorrow, no word on flight reimbursement, spending money, etc...this is a total nightmare.
Yeh I mean I fired 4 bullets. I maybe saw a few of these chips? I honestly am not 100% positive.
There was ALOT of chaos and confusion during this tourney. I was playing dealer more than the real dealers. I would have to constantly collect antes and tell the dealer what blinds we were on. A few of them never dealt NL HOLD em before so they had no idea.
One hand it was all in preflop and both players revealed AK. THe dealer started to chop the pot before a flop thinking it was a draw lol.
Wouldn't mind getting some of my cash back tho! Pretty sad how poorly it was run. 3 cashiers trying to register 1300 people on day 1c is just dumb.
Were chips left out of site of floors when tables broke?
Absolutely, yes. I was at a table that broke and was given an empty seat card for another table. I found the other table had already been broken down too. At that table there were two plastic milk crate type bins with tournament chips sitting there. No floor person, no dealer sitting there.
The gaming commission will find the faults and correct them. This tournament director needs to step up and admit they're not prepared for these kinds of fields at Borgata.
The fairest way possible depending on who is responsible. Is play the tournament out switch fake chips for real chips they earned those chips they deserve them in final 27. Players who didn't cash should be given a voucher of 560 for future tournament or full refund of money 2 million is a drop in the hat for them so they should right it and prosecute who did it for the amount they paid out. I trusted them to run a tournament clean and it wasn't.

This needed to be carefully considered. But, if they chopped up 28 places as someone said, it's too late to do anything even close to right. I still have to wonder about staffing levels. It may not matter as cheats are sometimes really good cheats. But, this is a real black eye. They should not spare any expense reviewing the tapes. Someone needs to be accountable

I agree, this is really the only right thing they can do. It's a ****ty situation but they can't be expected to do anything more than this. I'm sure some players got busted because of the phony chips, but the casino can't do anything about the could've or should'ves.
