This is an unfortunate situation, but the blame has to start with Tab the TD. I'd like to see him take some accountability for this because lord knows he has no problem taking credit when things are good.

Actually, we should probably give him a free pass because he was working on his fantasy sports teams and couldn't bother to look up from his computer. Totally understandable.

Not if they take the high road and responsibility.

No it's not the td, he can't see everything it's borgata as a whole they all failed from dealers to floors. But a lot comes down to floors who don't care and too dealers who don't care or understand none of them informed him when it was first seen. He can't be on the floor making rulings he's needed on sidelines for the multiple tournaments starting making sure everything runs smoothly. He seems to have always done a good job. But yet this happened so borgata as a whole is at fault more then one person approved an event center to be used.

if NJ treats this as some1 trying to cash in $20,000 in counterfeit chips at the cage (the amount of equity one poster calculated the fakes to be worth in the tournament) then these morons are going to be spending their Sklansky bucks to retain a competent lawyer.

It would ideally need to be coupled with scanning software at the tables. If player raises to 15k, table scanner only reads 5k in verified chips. It's problem.

Still requires vigilance but is a little easier. Also people can stop asking "how much you got behind" with the right software/setup.

They should treat it more like someone (or group) trying to steal the $1million of prize money at the Final Table.

He doesn't move from his chair or look up from his computer. He spends more time doing fantasy sports than he does monitoring the tournaments. The guy has gotten so arrogant he doesn't care at all about his loyal players, staff, bloggers, etc. who are responsible for the growth of these tournaments. Calls himself the "godfather of re-entries" despite Matt Savage being the one who came up with the idea initially (and has since criticized their overuse). IMO TD needs to be held accountable-- He gets the credit when things are good, he should take the blame when there are problems. Not to mention a monkey could do his job at this point.

lol....don't count on this. Casinos wont even invest in auto-shufflers for tournaments.

This needs to change, especially as Poker becomes more mainstream. At least if the hope is that it continues to grow. Tournament Directors & Casino's need to do more to ensure known cheaters are barred from these establishments.

NO MORE SECOND CHANCES for CHEATING SCUMBAGS !

A guy wins that pot and picks it up and was like what is this. He alerts the floor who gives him a real chip and takes it out of play.
Wow if this is true it looks really bad for the Borgata that the floor took an obviously fake chip out of play, yet tournament kept on going.

In all honesty I wonder if the Borg will decide after this that massive field tournaments like this are not worth the effort. Total take on 4k entries is only $240k, chump change after you pay all the dealers/staff etc. Of course it helps draw traffic to the casino so they make money elsewhere... but they might either start capping fields at a smaller number, or just run the bigger-buyin events that get smaller fields.

He only cares about the bottom line at this point. Dealers who don't care?!?!? He has dealers working a 3 million $ tourney that have NEVEr dealt poker before it is their first day just to improve the bottom line..it is on Tab, he is the one in charge. He has to take the L

Are there any lower denomination chips missing ? If the cheaters swap a 5k fake chip for either 1k or $500 chips equaling 5k.

You then use the skimmed chips later.

Or the are adding the 5 k to their stack after a color up where 5 k's are added, and slipping them in during table breaks when the players are moving between tables.

This is so LOL bad...

It is interesting and confusing that the restart is scheduled to start in an hour and nothing is posted here or in the news about the investigation.

In the Borgata blog it says, the tournament will play down to a winner today

Also, all non cheating players were not on the same playing field. Some had the extra chips in play at their table, some didn't.

I qualified online through Party Poker NJ in their 50 seats satty into event 1. If Borgata doesnt come through with a refund, you better believe I'm hitting up Party Poker with refund demands.

I'm definitely taking my business somewhere else maybe Maryland live will start to host big tournaments. All of their dealers are professional about almost everything.

I don't see anyway this plays out where the 27 (assuming none cheated) don't get paid or play it out. They'll be fine. Hopefully, Borgata comp't rooms and expenses.

That makes them look really bad... No statement nothing. At least a statement such as we can hold up the 27 players from finishing while the investigation continues.

They figured and isolated incident and didn't want it to get out. Maybe they've seen the fake chips before maybe someone tested it out see if they could get them in play with smaller tournaments maybe they were switching the chips for months every tournament they played switched their own grays with fake so they had real chips to enter in this tournament and because the amount of people and chips the fakes are just now coming out.
