I possibly would consider this.

At this point the % of cheats left is likely small. The majority, if any, of the final 27 likely did not cheat. Those players should not get penalized for the cheating. If in 24 hours they are not able to determine the cheats then tournament should continue with the current total amount of chips still in play.

On completion of the tournament the winning funds should be held in trust for a short but reasonable time period to give Borgata additional time to try and identify the cheats. If the cheats are discovered then the prize pool is adjusted accordingly. If the cheats are not discovered then the payouts are done as per the actual finish.

Some cheats may possibly prosper and this is extremely unfortunate but the non cheating players are being treated as fairly as possible. It needs to be remembered in this scenario that all non cheating players in this tournament were on the same playing field as each other and therefore the ones that managed to finished in the money deserve to be paid.

The thing is thE DGE doesn't care about player input, poker etiquette or a fair way to resolve the issue to make people happy. There was cheating in a casino, essentially money stolen. They need to keep the integrity of the game and protect the players. I don't think this ends well. Either restart or refund

Does anyone think it's out of the question for them to do a chop for the remaining 27 players *AND* give refunds to all non-cashing entries? They lose a ton of money in the immediate term, but what is player confidence in the integrity of the game worth to a casino?

Edit: This assumes that they will be investigating and very likely finding out who did this. Those individuals (I assume) will be prosecuted criminally and found liable for the loses incurred by the casino, even if they'll never be able to repay it.

Why? IMO, worse than chip chop is for them to cancel the whole tourney and return all buy-ins. There's a crapstorm that's ahead if the casino allows defrauded players to lose their buy in.
