They have seized life altering bankrolls of innocent american people and have shown no urgency to pay everyone's account balance back like full tilt has already done for the rest of the world. It's absurd
I wouldn't expect the money anytime soon or for the process to be simple but I think the chances of us getting screwed are close to zero.

The DoJ has all of the transaction information for FTP so the processor will be able to determine what people have by confirming their identities relatively easily. I also don't think lie is the correct term, do you honestly believe they made a decision to say they would make an announcement by X while saying we really won't get it done until Y? It seems much more likely that whatever is occurring behind closed doors is simply a testament to how everything in government moves very slowly. Additionally the reason they aren't saying anything meaningful is because they likely simply are not ready to and the people you get in touch with on the telephone legitimately do not know anything.

Lastly they did not seize your money, the former management at FTP defrauded you out of your money long before Black Friday. Recall that FTP and PS were both allowed to set up payment processors to refund our money, one of those companies was able to do so easily and quickly because they had the money. I agree they have not shown urgency in returning our funds but that's simply how the government works, my advice is to not expect anything anytime soon and not rely on when they say things will happen.

As an aside, do people really think the DoJ went through this whole settlement process with the intention of keeping everyone's money? If you recall they turned down the BT deal that would have made US players whole (similar to the PS settlement) but left the RoW players needing to jump through play requirement hoops to reclaim their balances. All of their actions indicate they are acting in the best interest of the victims but it's going to take a while to get everything sorted on our side.

The money pokerstars paid out for FTP players was not the FTP players' money. The money that the DoJ got from pokerstars and is holding for eventual remission payments does not belong to FTP players. FTP players have no legal right to that money. That money is just voluntary compensation for losses due to an offence. It is not "your money".

"Your money" is long gone. It was stolen from you, via fraud, by FTP, and the majority of it has not been recovered.
So much fail in this post I'm not even sure where to start so I'll just leave it at that.

Hoodskier... Best post I have seen in awhile. You hit everything pretty much on the head.

In the end I think we actually agree about how fast or how soon they want to conclude this. Not at all!

I'm more confused as to how you got such a "pinpoint" time estimate...seeing as the only answers received have been "soon", "imminent", and to stay "very tuned in".

Which, as we've seen, means anywhere between 1 day and 4 months.

For those asking, I spoke with the person at the Justice Dept who is in charge of releasing announcements. The person is simply on the announcement end and has nothing to do with running the DOJ's US player reimbursement program. This person, who is vary familiar with the Full Tilt case, and I spoke for a while, and actually asked me to call again tomorrow.

They were not sure the announcement would get out this week and then said next week would be more likely. And I have no idea of what the announcement will say. That's everything I know. Just passing it along.

What color is the sky in your world? There is of course the chance that most of us will eventually get back money that closely reflects our balances, but if you think the chances of this happening are close to 100% you are truly delusional. The DOJ exists to prosecute those who aren't politically connected that get caught committing a crime, they could care less about victims. The only reason players have a chance to see anything at all is because Pokerstars gave the DOJ so much more then they would possibly have to pay out to compensate players who were defrauded that it would make the DOJ look bad if they kept it all.

So, in Bigvariance we have either a troll like so many others, doing what trolls do,

Or

We have an "inside sourcer" telling us that whatever news is incoming, is (essentially) not the news we're actually looking for, and that there will simply be another waiting period, another series of "next weeks", and more jerking around of the US players while the rest of the world gets to donk off the remainder of the monies they were owed which Pokerstars paid out almost 4 months ago now.

Any news other than "This is where / how you apply for remission, here are the conditions which need to be met to be paid back your money" just leads me further down a path of despising my government. Saudi Arabia would have paid out sooner. I may have received some lashes in addition to my funds, but they probably would have paid. By now i'd be firing a gold AK-47 wildly in the air from my brand new Mercedes. But here in the good ol USA I can't even get my monies to so I can get back to school.

Ok ok... just a gold plated AK.

It actually seems like he called a different number, or talked to a different person at the DoJ/SDNY than everyone else has been (or the normal person was more forthcoming).

Either way, I wouldn't put any stock in this/next week leaks from the DoJ...because we've seen how reliable those have been.

Let's just hope an "announcement" is made before April and the 2 year anniversary of this whole fiasco.

Once again I am passing along what I was told verbatim. Doesn't mean anything BIG will happen. I am not a troll; have no axe to grind and don't have a significant amount of $$ at Tilt. (Though it's enough that I would like to get it back.) I will call tomorrow again if nothing happens and see if I can get an update. Person seemed friendly enough. Interesting footnote though --this person did ask if I was one of the "victims."

So you're suggesting that the DoJ rejected a previous deal that would have netted them about the same amount of money (actually more than likely more money depending on how much PS would have settled for outside of the FTP deal) because it was a poor deal for the RoW while planning to screw the US customers out of their balances?

That makes sense...

No, I'm suggesting that anyone who thinks the DOJ bases their decisions on the welfare of FT's customers is delusional. We can all speculate why the DOJ chose to accept one deal and reject another, but it's laughable to suggest it was out of concern for ROW players.

Or he just made up the entire thing.

It doesn't really matter, either way it's just random noise until something... actually... HAPPENS.
