The whole idea of a "remissions process" sounds dubious to me. I really don't want to have to go through the US Federal government to get my bankroll back. Just let us log onto the software in the normal fashion and request a withdrawal from there. Let the government and Full Tilt (i.e. Pokerstars) do whatever they need to do in the background.

So would everybody, but that ship has sailed.

One thing that Full Tilt did towards the end that ticked me off was they went into my account and flagged it as a "United States" account. Prior to that, the account wasn't assigned to any country, because I had never made a deposit or withdrawal (normally the country field gets filled automatically by your credit card). Being "country-less" at higher-stake tables was cool because it was proof that I had started at $0 and clawed my way up from scratch. Call it prideful, but I was proud of that li'l sucker.

Not only did they force it to be United States, but the state defaulted to Alabama because that's first alphabetically.

Sigh. I miss Full Tilt. I can't believe I'm on a forum talking about it. LOL

I was actually cut off in November 2010, several months prior to Black Friday, because I was in the state of Washington. The supreme court in the state of WA had nothing to do one day so they decided to declare that online poker was illegal. Full Tilt honored the decision by blocking Washington IPs. Instead of making a withdrawal at the time, I stupidly decided to leave the funds there for the times I would be traveling. DO'H!

The stories about the DOJ naming a claims administrator within the next couple of weeks are true. DOJ officials confirmed that fact with our Executive Director John Pappas at our DC office earlier today. It is expected that the DOJ will actually make a formal announcement (probably only on their website, not a press release) once all the details are set.

Unfortunately, no other specific information was confirmed. Instead we were told that most other issues are still being considered. We were also thanked and complimented for the information and communications the PPA has been sending the DOJ since the meeting in November.

Before some folks go a little crazy (understandably), it should be noted that the naming of the administrator is only the first real step in this process. But it is a key step and it should be completed shortly.

Once the administrator is formally named I expect that we will get a fair overview from the administrator as to what level of work still needs to be accomplished before checks can issue. With that we should have a good rough guess as to just how long the whole process will take.

The PPA will continue to keep you informed as it learns anything regarding this situation.

OMG, WTF. You're either going to pay deposits or balances, it's not that hard. ("You're" is used here in the general sense, not toward the poster & PPA, but toward the DOJ.)

Why doesn't the DOJ hire Pokerstars to process the payments???

I am sure they would do it cheaper, faster and more efficiently than anyone else.

Because despite what they taught you in elementary school the grown-ups are actually greedy and corrupt to the core, especially the ones that go into the occupation of dispensing Justice.

Before CHECKS can issue? I'd be overjoyed to get some indication of when and how we can apply for remission.

Because as far as actual checks, it's going to be "Based on the number of claims and total available funds and resolution of discrepancies and any pending legal action and blah blah blah blah blah..." but in any case, based on past remissions cases, NOTHING'S going to happen until they have all the applications and the window for applying has closed (at least six months from now).

Unless, by some miracle, they go back to doing something "special" for us and us alone. But I hold out very little hope for that miracle, at this point.

This is a unique situation because there is enough money to pay everybody balances. The vast majority of the time there is fraud, there won't be enough money.

Do you (or anybody else) know of a remissions process where the DOJ actually had enough money on hand to pay everybody in full?
