Assuming it does not get in the way of getting players paid out as fast as possible, then wtf is the problem asking for what we are owed in the first place?
Unfortunately there is no real way to know beforehand if asking for points will slow down payouts. Logic, however, says yes. How much it would slow it down is tough to determine.

Not necessarily. One way it could not is if the DOJ/payment processor/who ever makes that decision pays out cash balances first then goes back and resolves other issues making them mutually exclusive. Kinda how PS paid out balances then a bit later paid out rewards $. Obv there are ways it does slow it down, but I agree no one can really no.

any updates regarding whether the DoJ has selected a processor for the US player payouts?

They were eyeing January last time I checked.

Thanks

No update. It will be all over the first page of NVG when selected.

I wonder what the chances are that the announcement of the remission process will be straight forward and let us know exactly how things will unfold. Or, will it be vague and a cluster?

If past history of this never ending saga is any indication ...

IMO these will be the upcoming milestones:

1.) We'll find out the identity of the remissions processor.

2.) At some point afterwards, the remissions processor will tell us how to apply for our money.
(There is an 80% chance IMO that the applications process will be really stupid. There is a 100% chance that dozens of people in NVG will bitch about the process, whether or not it's stupid.)

3.) At some point after you apply, you will get some % of your balance (if you jumped through all the hoops correctly). Any effort to find out more details, such as the exact percentage or specific timeframes, will most likely be futile.

great according to your speculation lets wait another 6 months and get a percentage of our balance when we should've been paid our full balance by stars over 2 months ago

Seeing as its not actually illegal even on a Federal level to play online poker, that its the movement of monies on & off the site to do it, I really don't see how anybody's going to get their money back. Maybe that's why the structure of Pstars buy out....ya think?

Laws are only real when they're enforced. The government allowed Stars to move money from the site to players after April 15th.

Really really high. No wait, interest is terribly low. If you're really serious, go look at their total balance being held and look at the minuscule interest earned. It's public information.

Man I wonder how much interest the IRS makes off refunds. They could easily send it next day, but sometimes it takes a week+. They're clearly doing it for the interest.

Dude, are you for real? Allowed? How could they stop them from mailing checks? Pstars did the right thing in spite of the "real" laws that were in fact enforced.

Up until last year or the year before, checks were mailed on Fridays (each Friday in fact) for obvious managerial reasons. Now they've come about into the age of efiling and online banking, etc, etc, and proccess on every day of the week.

They aren't getting anything back, deposits or winnings.

The real rape comes when they withhold money for 3 1/2 to 15 1/2 months before people file for a refund. But this is the US government we're talking about. Even in the richest country in the World that taxes the **** out of everybody and everything, they still can't figure out how to spend less than they earn - so they're not earning interest on that money. They're spending it and borrowing more, then paying us back with our own money when we file for refunds.

Really didn't think people would respond to my obvious joke post about the IRS.
