Matusow rly thinks its true, if that's worth anything...lol
04-24-2012 , 03:50 PM
don't think there's any point in discussing if this is true. Just be patient for PS's official announcement if they did buy FTP.

+1 for it not being good if it's true, PS being monopoly isn't a good thing.

So is the tapie deal officially dead?

Is there an official source for that?
04-24-2012 , 03:50 PM
Mike Matusow currently on QJs. Good stuff.

"Do you really think they (Stars) would do this deal if they were'nt opening back up in the United States?"

Um, wtf. Did some new fact come to light over the past couple of hours? I doubt it. Dangling any suggestion that "online poker will soon be returning to the US with DOJ approval" and then not following up at all after your comments have caused a frenzy b/c of the above stated reasoning, when probably not a thing has changed from your perspective since you made the initial post, is a pretty ****ty thing to do imo, especially when you probably now realize how ambiguous your post was. After everything we've gone through, ambiguous hints are pretty difficult to tolerate, especially when the author is a well-respected member of the community. Put up or shut up.

Meh. Pokerstars is already a monopoly. They really aren't much more of a monopoly if FT dies or comes back with a "Powered by Zoom! Poker" logo.

Pokerstars getting FTP and returning balances is worse than someone new getting FTP and returning balances, but Pokerstars returning money is better than no one getting paid.

has matusow ever had a clue what he was talking about re: anything? i put no stock in his speculations

Now Tilt is going to reopen in the US!? This is better than Christmas!

Why couldn't they have done that with their .net platform?

This is great news! I would be surprised if FTP/Stars would be allowed to serve/accept US players again, but I guess we will find out. In my opinion, the main objective here is to get all of our funds returned to us. I am looking forward to reading an official statement from Pokerstars.

Didn't the DOJ say they don't consider online poker to be covered by the UIGEA or something along those lines?

Stars statement of sorts

Don't get excited!

"We've had a lot of enquiries and there's lots of speculation on the forums, so I wanted to address the PokerStars chatter. As you know, PokerStars is in settlement discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice. As such settlement discussions are always confidential, we are unable to comment on rumors. As soon as we have information to share publicly we will do so."

Does not compute.
They didn't crush FTP. FTP was already insolvent and they weren't going to be able to sustain their business model much longer. Also, LOL at "destroying UB/AP" as those *******s have destroyed themselves.

Once you add in $750 million dollars, plus future corporate tax revenue, plus reporting American players earnings to the IRS which equals more tax revenue, it computes just fine.

You seem pretty clueless.
