Someone explain to me WHY PokerStars would do this?

The only reason I can think of is they know something we don't with regards to the US Market. Otherwise it makes 0 sense. They already own the market.

Either way, I think Ipoker and Party Poker are sh*tting themselves right now

Absolutely. As it looks, they don't have to use the seized funds to pay back US players.

If this is true, why did they wait so long? There was speculation a long time ago that Stars should do this and they didn't.

1. We don't know when Pokerstars decided they may want to buy FT.
2. He does not manage Pokerstars, his just the face of Pokerstars.

"Sources have corroborated the story with Pokerfuse that a deal has indeed been reached but could not confirm any specific details."

Independently corroborated.

If PokerFuse feels confident enough to run the story it's got a chance of being true - let's say 70% at this point.

Would love to hear a statement from Stars.

Did we capture him? Pretty sure we killed him then let him sink to the bottom of the ocean.. but I guess thats the same as capturing?

I have called some people at BwinParty, they say their side is bull about them buying anything, HOWEVER it is true about GBT failing with the FTP deal and will be confirmed later today.

BUT the PS & FTP deal is real I am told and news on this is coming

I would have never played on FTP again after this fiasco. If this is true, I would probably go back to FTP, depending on the tourney structures. I'm more a MTT grinder...

I respect how PS handled themselves post BF and the efficiency that they payed back their US players.

I don't get posts like these. If FTP is profitable for GBT to buy, it's profitable for Stars to buy. If it's a +ev investment why wouldn't any company with the money buy it regardless of whether they are in the same market?

Perfect timing for a huge annoucement during EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo...

He came back a week later saying he was hearing positive things and that U.S. players might be repaid before the start of the WSOP. This is likely what he was thinking of and the only way he would know such a thing. Also, really the only way we could be paid back before the WSOP!

My comment was in reply to posts about laws against monopolies in the EU. Do you understansd what a monopoly is and what constitutes a monopoly within the EU? If you don't then no point in you posting again but I can confirm that Stars owning Tilt will not constitute a monopoly under EU law.
