"Factual rebuttal" to what? Your claim that I'm a "Merge shill"? I've never even played on Merge. That I "want the hole thing to fall through" (your spelling, not mine)? I said the precise opposite earlier.

I have absolutely no idea why you've been singling me out in every FT thread that's open, but you seem to have me confused with someone else. So get your facts straight please.

And I don't know why it's acceptable on 2+2 to call people 'shills' with absolutely no factual basis. A shill is a con artist (my dictionary, shill: "an accomplice of a hawker, gambler, or swindler who acts as an enthusiastic customer to entice or encourage others"). If people were accusing others of being thieves or con artists without any evidence whatsoever, would that be allowed to continue? It's libel if it isn't true.

I think it's been made very clear that most of the $750m is not to buy FTP but to pay fines to stay out of jail and get the DOJ off their back. The speculated $750m is a package deal which likely INCLUDES settlement of their case with the US Govt. (which is a 50% discount on what the DOJ were originally asking for).

So let's say the value of the software, goodwill, keeping a competitor out of the market and possibly regaining entry into the US market directly or indirectly is worth $100m(i think it's much more), then consider the other $650m as fines and penalties of which $335m will end up in players pockets and the poker economy(many of whom still play on stars and will play on FTP2) and $315m will end up staying in DOJ coffers.

[ ] Any number of alleged Merge shills could possibly have any impact whatsoever on PS being able to close a deal to purchase FTP with DOJ.

I just get so tilted when journalist come out that they have all this info but cannot site their sources and when they turn out to be wrong(which seems to happen a lot in the poker world) and people defend them with nonsense about how they were trying to help etc....like theres nothing in it for them ...If people want to come off as being legit journalist then they need to take ownership when they are wrong. not just a whoops....shrug shoulders and tell us you were being mislead. Also very annoying df was telling us to be patient like it was locked up and how these things take time......ergh Um, Isnt finding credible sources kind of important? shakes head.

If DF is doing her work pro bono then I take back some of my harsh crticism but defintiely not all of it.

howard ferguson and ray should all get rigged into a big cash game, and given bad beats with a rigged deck over and over again. Then we will all laugh in their faces and kick them in the ass

That is, unless someone else actually managed to close a transaction in between 3-6 months ago and now, which would also be possible, but inherently speculative to the extent it's meaningless.

LOL @ baseless speculation. This has now been going on for over a year. I don't believe anything the LOLpokermedia reports. Until I get the money that is currently non-existent/"frozen" in my FTP account transferred to my bank account I won't believe anything and will hardly get excited at any of this. I mean how many times now has a "deal been done" in the last year? 10 or 11 times? This whole thing is a joke. It is like these poker sites just daily say "zommgggg FTP sold!" so that in the rare event that it was they could say they were the first to report it.

LOL...sure, definitely believe that, and why wouldn't I believe the "various sources?"

Is there any reason at all to believe that the $750M came from somewhere other than somebody's rectum?

If anything the past year has shown us that the "poker journalism" is a complete joke. Perhaps the only exception is Subject Poker and of course that is no longer around.

The other complete joke is poker players who feel the need to Tweet vague and unsubstantiated rumors like "big announcement coming tomorrow" or "everybody will be getting their money back soon" or "FTP returning to the US" and then when none of this stuff ends up happening they are nowhere to be seen and never address why they were incorrect.

I still think it's worth noting that we have no clue how much they're paying, but I trust Dreyfus to at least have some legitimate reason for thinking it might be $750 million.

this is a good site...they are now saying it is confirmed when their earlier report did not say that. their earlier report also said at the very end "Developing…big Insider analysis coming Thursday." so seems like they are onto somebody who is giving them info

Funny you say that and the story at the top of their site is that Bernard Tapie on Feb 14th was just about to relaunch Full Tilt.

...IMHO, of course.

Sweet deal for PS, whatever the terms.
