BIG news about PokerStars BIG news about PokerStars

Would be good news but I highly doubt it. Laws against it. Best they could do is allow play but you would have to Western Union them money.

There technically isn't a law against allowing us players to play just getting the money online legally. If they found the few "jump thru hoop" legal ways it'd be ok....

OP did not say this is what would happen. OP says it's all coming back I book the action and add a line for a push.

In other news. Here I come costa rica! Next month

If you have enough clout and want to sneak in "legalized online gambling" this might be your best time in the next 2-3 years...
Nobody who has enough clout is proponent of repealing UIGEA.
Nobody who is a proponent has enough clout.
The UIGEA had already cleared committee when port bill came up.
People had been pushing for UIGEA for over 2 years before the port bill came up.

The only bill that allows regulated US poker a) expressly prohibits Stars and b) has a 6 month waiting period.

So to believe that Stars will be offered US play "soon" one would have to believe
a) some new bill allowing Starts to participate and with 0 day waiting period is created.
b) said bill passes committee
c) the powers that be (existing US gaming lobby) completely miss this one (hopefully the monitor "insider" 2p2 threads).
d) bill gets attached to debt bill by someone with power and influence (despite nobody like that supporting Stars)

MEH. I will take my chances on this weeks Powerball. Much better odds.

in march he posted a thread asking people what bb/100 meant, and in june he posted a thread claiming to work for the games integrity team at FTP

why is this thread open? why is OP not banned? i hate backseat moderating but jesus christ, how have you not banned this guy yet

so it's ok for everyone to just make things up and create threads and pretend to be insiders? can i go start one of these threads right now?

I doubt the admins are aware of this thread. Not sure if they're aware of d3uces at all.

When mods banned this guy for making a bunch of threads like this before, NVG got all pissed at us because it turned out that he got one date right (but not the details and all his other predictions were wrong, and AFAIK the date that he got right had not been planned in advance at all). So apparently NVG doesn't like the policy of us locking and banning because we think that what someone is saying is really blatantly wrong and/or made up. They also seem to have asked us to give this guy in particular some leeway.

I don't really agree with what I perceive to be NVG's assessment, but to some extent I think NVG has a right to decide what gets to stay in NVG (up to the rules and decisions of the admins and obviously unacceptable stuff).

I have no problem with any other mod locking this thread, though, and I'll probably lock it myself if it continues to suck and I'm still paying attention.

PS could easily jump back into the US under a NEW domain and harvest players through a "Membership Site" like Club WPT, etc. They could dump money into it to pay on top of the payout structure to snatch interest of the masses while they wait for favorable legislation for real money games to return in the US market. While this may not be of any interest to true grinders, there is a viable market for such play in the US among the masses. It would be naive to think that PS would write off the US Market so easily. It should be obvious that PS has been playing chess while FTP, UB and the sorts have been happy playing checkers. Their resources make nearly anything possible.

My gut reaction to the OP was pretty much the same as everyone else ITT, that it was stupid and full of ****. Then I got to thinking, now that it's apparent that any regulations that get passed are still going to exclude Pokerstars from re-entering the US market- even if they decide to pay off their hefty fine to the DOJ- why wouldn't they continue serving American players if they could? They're not going to be able to form any partnership with any US-based casino. Such a partnership would be completely unnecessary for the casinos because by the time regulations get passed, Pokerstars' name brand would have all but evaporated from the minds of 80%+ of American customers. This is a company that's been described by the US government as a "criminal enterprise" which will irreversibly taint any legitimate business relationship it tries to form down the road. Gary Loveman explicitly confirmed in a public interview that Caesar's won't be forming partnerships with any of the indicted sites, and it's a pretty safe assumption that none of the other major casinos are interested either.

There was a time when Pokerstars' "compliance" with the law made sense, they had a partnership with the Wynn in the works and prospects of entering the legalized US market, which explains why they were so quick to ban Washington players, etc. But now that it's clear those prospects are gone I don't see why they wouldn't re-enter the US market if they could, especially now that they can assimilate Full Tilt's market share into their own. Assuming they can continue handling deposits and cashouts cost-effectively, they could make their US market bigger than ever. Maybe it's just wishful thinking (and boy, do I wish), but I really don't see why they wouldn't. Yeah OP's probably full of **** but if you're a bit open-minded about it, it does kind of make sense.

I should have more detailed news in next couple of days.

Mod edit: Removed solicitation.
07-25-2011 , 04:04 PM
So when Pokerstars reaches a settlement with the DOJ, replaces the "owner" and they are back in the Pokerstars.US format inside of 6 months please make sure you naysayers come back and kiss the OP's ass.

Because just like b4 he was banned, than apologized to, when the date he predicted (must of just been unbelievably lucky to pick that random date right) FT shut down/bankrupt or whatever people believed him a bit.

So please keep pretending like what he is saying isnt possible when it is very much a possibility
07-25-2011 , 04:05 PM
And now the thread is locked because OP began soliciting money again.
