The reward is living in a marginally safer society where we have one less armed robber getting away with stuff, endangering fellow poker players and citizens. Just do the right thing and call the police and give them your tip if you think it's worthwhile. Ofc you might be wrong, but the police are going to be able to determine it pretty well, they're not idiots. When they post a photo of a suspect and ask the public for help, they're pretty much expecting people to give incorrect tips. So, they're not just going to immediately arrest and interrogate someone based on a tip, but just look into the guy and see if other things add up.

You can call anonymously if you want, even. https://twitter.com/LVMPD/status/935909519950979072

It's a pretty simple math question: How much does it cost to update security cameras every x years and how much would doing that save in insurance premiums?

The camera really only needs to be good enough to see the cage employee when they do that hand thing and show their palms. That is probably why the camera is so old.

I guess that's their choice. Given how lax MGM is on security though, it's not a place I want to visit again (cheap cameras in themselves are not a big deal, but they are emblematic of a company culture that does not place much value on security...something I've had the displeasure of witnessing first hand).

Don't know if there's a reward, but likely I'd guess.

As crazy as it sounds, the $400000 wasn’t enough for him and he needed the extra money. Especially after he was blowing that $400000 gambling at the Bellagio.

Was the robber a person who wanted to rob a casino and decided the Bellagio poker cage was a weak point or was it someone who spent enough time in the Bellagio poker room to see it as a potential easy target?

If he didn't act alone, would he have a confederate at a poker table or near the poker room who could warn him off if unforeseen conditions made a robbery less viable?

I know that if I were planning a crime like this, I would have spent some time trying to figure out the optimal time to rob the cage. Maybe someone has been tasked with looking through relevant security footage that may have been archived.

Could be... that's always a possibility.

But I'm not so sure that would be much of a consideration for someone who's carrying a gun into a casino. Would seem more like such collaboration would revolve around $$$ amount as U.S. service-industry personnel have been taught for decades to surrender whatever an armed assailant demands. The standard play has traditionally been to let the armed culprit(s) get away with anything other than another human being long enough to count w/e it is alone. Then there are some passive-aggressive security measures that will trip up desperate people (which makes up a large percentage of armed robbers), starting from the Point of Sale terminal where the robbery takes place. And that's of course on top of the completely aggro law enforcement heat that brings its own collaboration methods in the mix with informants who are more than happy to put in effort on behalf of their communities or because their need for a favor from prosecutors.

Doyle mentioned there was $200k cash waiting for deposit in Bobby's Room, yet the robber targeted the cage cashier. If I were to freestyle it I would put the line against collaboration in the recent Bellagio robbery. But I'd most definitely take 180:1 odds for some insider-angle if someone were to gift that to you.

Hopefully they catch the robber and his accomplices if applicable. Unfortunately there's rarely little hope for full recovery of funds 48 hours after the crime has occurred.

Why do you hope they catch him? I always root for guys like this who have astronomical odds of not getting caught. I root for people who are trying to outrun the police in police chases. I root for escaped prisoners. Etc

I get the fascination or that element of it, but there's a distinction imo when it comes to individuals who threaten other human beings in that manner. As cute as it was to see the wig & glasses getup and to be relieved that no one got physically hurt in this case, I don't think it's too #OOL to classify the perp as just another massively inconsiderate f*** who has some amount of explaining to do and consequences to pay if/when he's caught. Just my view though.

Not to mention that a "successful" robbery without getting caught is likely to inspire copycats which increases the chances of someone getting hurt in a situation like this.
