Last time the robbery took place on a Tuesday afternoon when it wouldn’t be busy. This time it was on a Friday night during a very busy time.

Who was it anyway? Are they ever going to tell us?

Las Vegas police have confirmed that the November 2017 robbery and Friday night's robbery are connected.

I have deleted a bunch of posts with (or related to) photos of people that may or may not be the most recent robber.

Wow that video is insane. Homeboy tried to carjack a car in front of 3 cops! Video is sorta NFSW.

Apologies for posting that picture. I shouldn't have done that.

So many questions regarding the video. Was he on the phone while casually trying to escape? He was in the white car, there were nobody in there with him, why got out and go after the car behind with somebody driving and locked their doors? Was the video slowed-down? Totally not what I envisioned when I read the initial news article. Interesting video nonetheless.

You should read the article. Or, watch the video with audio.

It helps to actually read. Just found out from the same article that the white car apparently did not have the keys when he tried to get away. The video is indeed interesting. Not too often a "news station" (reviewjournal, in this case) would have a full video of someone shooting out with the police and getting shot to death. Great find.

btw, the officer that fired the shot should not be on leave that long. Dude shot a cop, cops returned fire. Video clearly showing that.

There is a whole lot more that goes into how long someone is on leave...even though it is likely going to be ruled as a justified shoot, the reality is that the officer has to live with the decision that he not only GOT shot but that, in the course of defending himself, he took someone else's life. That is a lot of mental and emotional baggage that can make it difficult to return to active duty...

Sadly, there are lots of suicides that have followed such incidents. It is not unique to the law enforcement profession either. There are periodic stories about truck drivers that could not deal with the after-effects when some idiot jumper decides to put themselves in front of an 18-wheeler, leaving the driver with no time to avoid the contact. While the driver is not in any way at fault, it messes with the head. They cannot deal with the guilt/emotions/trauma and some reach a point where they take their own life.

I can only hope that LVMPD has good trauma resources to help the officer.

4 cops actually. In retrospect i makes a lot of sense to pay attention to your surroundings when involved in a major robbery.

There are a lot of Las Vegas Metro PD shooting videos that can be found online. Apparently all the officers wear body cams and the police department is very forthcoming with footage.

LVMPD watching the threat the whole time. When it's go time they all run towards the perp and draw weapons and deal with him appropriately.

Well done.

How does he get all the way out to valet without being surrounded by security from inside?

He had no escape plan other than to try to steal/Carjack a vehicle on the fly?

#1 goal with an armed robber inside the casino (or basically any other business with lots of customers) is to get him out of there without anyone getting hurt.

Even letting him get away with some cash is cheaper in the longrun than having him shoot an (unarmed) security guard or even worse a guest. If they’re shooting it out on the casino floor, play is over for the night in a significant portion of the casino which is not what you want to happen on a Friday night. Let alone the lawsuits following that.

crazy. one minute you are robbing a casino, the next you are shot dead...sad. wonder what the moment he realized he is not getting away with it this time was like...

I’m surprised he didn’t just go back inside when he went out there and 4 cops were standing there. But idk this guy looks like he gained too much weight and it would take a little while to get anywhere. Caesars Palace is the closest casino.

That’s why he chose the valet area. It’s a short walk/jog from the poker room. He figured he could exit the casino before security/police realized what was going on.

Also, like Madlex said they don’t want a shootout in the casino. If he had a vehicle ready in the self parking area it’s a much longer jog, but he likely still makes it into the vehicle because security will just let him go. The bigger question is if he gets away before the cops see him.

Valet is close. Also, MGM security is ****. This was evident in the Stephen Paddock mass shooting and it's been clear in multiple Bellagio robberies. Bellagio is a much softer target than a casino like Wynn which is why it is robbed so much more often.

They were not watching him the whole time. They actually had their backs turned to him when he was trying to jack the car. Props to them for eliminating the threat but they didn't even notice him jump in and out of a vehicle right in front of them.

I'm not sure if he noticed them. Perhaps when he passed them after getting out of the 1st vehicle he did. He should have just kept walking rather than trying to jack the first vehicle he came upon.
