Re: Bellagio Poker Cage robbed at gunpoint

Yea. They never found the guy who actually stole the money, and one of the two people they had in custody left the country while out on bail

I guess they let one of the suspects on bail. So he was caught. The other guy they know who he is.

I think they know who did this by now. It may be a matter of locating him or they are watching him waiting to see if he spends the money.

Statute of limitations is now up on that one. So the guy who never was caught can't be charged with doing it anymore. Statute of limitations is 4 years on his charges in Nevada. I assume if they ever find the guy who had already been arrested and skipped town on bail they could rearrest him. But the guy who actually did the crime is off scot free

You might want to take another look into how "statute of limitations" works.

No he isn’t. I️t is within 4 years to be charged with the crime.

If he hasn't been charged since he hasn't been caught, and it's been over 4 years how is the statute of limitations not up

Re: Bellagio Poker Cage robbed at gunpoint

I get it now. Since they've charged him with a crime inside of the 4 years it doesn't matter how long it takes to actually capture the guy? Is this correct

I am not a criminal lawyer but I believe that is the case. Reason being that we want people to come forward in a reasonable time period as well as people not being told 'gotcha' years later.

Where this did come into play was DB Cooper air jacking. I think the statute was 15 or 20 years and they had no idea who it was. Theoretically, the guy could have gotten away with it. The Feds were still prepared though to imprison him on the theory that he should not have been protected by the statute by disguise. The statute should start once he could reasonably be identified.

When the coke and gambling loot start to really dry out, there's going to be a moment inside his ****ty motel room watching replays of his robbery that he thinks "I really should have scooped up that $600 while I had the chance."

More like I, "That was easy. Nobody stopped me. I will try that at the same hotel again."

Hey, still better than the average bank robbery which is around ~$5k. Not sure if the FBI automatically assists in casino robberies like they do with banks.

He has to be known by now. Especially with a pseudo-accomplice.
I thought he was on his own. The news said he kidnapped someone and stole his car. That wasn’t his partner and that person cooperated with police (well according to reports anyway).

If nobody has recognized the suspect by now and told police, I don’t see how they are going to catch him for this. Unless he does something really dumb like come back and brag about the crime.

This story doesn’t make sense. Did he really kidnap a total random person just to get an unknown ride to the casino? Risked life imprisonment with no statutes of limitations on kidnapping. I also imagined he left fingerprints. And there is an “innocent” person that can ID him.

Strange.

Re: Bellagio Poker Cage robbed at gunpoint

***"Whatever amount of cash he got is not enough to face a lifetime in prison," Pelletier said. He said the robber committed the crime alone, but also said another person accompanied him in a car. Pelletier said, however, that it appears that person came "against his will," though he would not say whether the person was kidnapped.***

This doesn’t sound like he waved oa gun in the street and demanded a ride to the Bellagio. And the gunman came in alone, correct? Did the other person just wait for him to come back with the loot instead of going to the police?

This part is very strange. Police obviously not disclosing everything. I would absolutely bet they know who did it.

The clock also stops on Statute of limitations if you leave the state the crime was committed in as well

Seems like the police are indeed stumped.

ARMED ROBBERY UNSOLVED!
Can you help us crack this case?
LVMPD detectives need the tip that will lead them to the arrest of an armed robber who hit the Bellagio casino more than two weeks ago. Surveillance images revealed a masked man enter the casino, approaching the poker room cashier cage, and then making off with stolen cash. Someone knows exactly WHO this is... and could be eligible for a CASH REWARD for providing information to Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

Would be interesting to decide what happens if he would die after a conviction but before an appeal. Aaron Hernandez isn't a convicted murderer anymore because he killed himself before his appeal process was over.

Unless you put a stipulation in the bet that says a conviction isn't needed.
Hard to argue Aaron got away with it.

It seems Laze was arguing that 9hi could win the bet indirectly, by having future generations collect on it. At that point it would be unplausible for Chainsaw to physically be caught anymore. Just kidding, by the way he was moving on the escape, I could tell it wasn't he.

You could bring in some third world labor whose yearly income is tiny and outsource the work.

I doubt the deductible is that low, Bellagio probably self insures for some significantly larger amount, doesn't pay to buy down the deductible for such a small amount relative to the gross.

I'm confused why more hasn't came out about the guy that was in the car with the robber when they pulled up. Surely he has more info that can be released if they are truly stumped.

If MGM didn't charge for valet parking this robber might have been caught waiting for the valet to return his car.
