Barcelona - Hotel Arts staff stole from me Barcelona - Hotel Arts staff stole from me

05-08-2018 , 04:03 PM
I was at Barcelona playing Partypoker Millions. I won the package from Partypoker so I was staying in Hotel Arts. Last evening we went to eat with my wife. I was keeping my money in my laptop bag (hidden there). At this time there was 4700 EUR. The housekeeping cleaned our room when we where at town.

Next morning we had an early flight to home and I was going to transfer money from my laptop bag to my wallet. Then I noticed that 2000 EUR was missing. Called to reception and night manager and security manager came to see us. Security guy was smirking and night manager told that they trust their employees 100%. Of course even before calling them I knew that I will never see my money. But the way they handeled this case was kind of ****.

I got one email from them after this and the sender was this same night manager and he said the same things that they trust their employees and thats it.

Then I made a rating to Tripadvisor where I told that the staff stole from me. They gave me a new email address to contact. I emailed again and then their lawyer send me an answer and threated me with a sue if I continue to trash talk about their client Hotel Arts.

I have no reason to lie about this kind of ****. I have been poker pro for 10 years and if I need 2k this is not the way I would try to get that

And I guess almost every poker player knows the laptop hack case couple years ago in this same hotel. When they tried to hack high rollers laptops.

Same **** continues here I guess. I hope Partypoker or any pokersite does not cooperate with this hotel anymore.

I contacted Partypoker too but got just couple answers week ago that they try to ask what happened. Has been silence after that.

So just for players watch out if you stay at Hotel Arts for some reason. I will not enter there anymore.

Several other cases too. Sites are fully aware of the issues and continue to use this hotel annually

As I recall, PokerStars conspired with the hotel to obstruct player attempts at investigating. They still do business with Hotel Arts and hold events there.

Maybe Party will do better. Or maybe this is just a reality of staying in hotels. I was nearly stranded in Bahamas covering the PCA one year because cleaning staff stole my wallet. You sometimes hear about this stuff happening at the Rio.

I wonder why they only stole 2k out of 4.7k? And why not report this to the authorities?
05-08-2018 , 05:04 PM
do the rooms not have a safe ?
05-08-2018 , 06:16 PM
never leave valuables unlocked at hotel(s) arts barcelona, esp not this place
05-08-2018 , 09:10 PM
Every pos hotel I have stayed in had a safe bolted down in the closet, the combo is whatever you choose it to be. Does this Arts not have such a basic accommodation?
05-08-2018 , 09:11 PM
This is why I don't leave sums of money in hotel rooms when I travel abroad. Can never be too careful.
05-08-2018 , 09:31 PM
Could probably buy a house in Spain with 2k.
05-08-2018 , 10:10 PM
Thats why your front pocket in your control at all times is the safest option/only 100% safe option.

Yeah i get it people dont like to carry around cash but i feel wayyyy better with it on me and if i lose it or something happens at least i know what happened rather than it just mysteriously disappearing from my room.
05-08-2018 , 10:40 PM
But is the safe safe even if laptop bag was in the safe?

For example, if you go to a hotel, lock stuff in the safe, then forget combo, they will open it if you show ID and can answer some questions like what is in it.

So front pocket is a good idea. Also, not having much cash on you i guess but these are poker players who need to have cash on them.

This is why as bitcoin becomes more universal this crap wont happen. Steal my wallet and all my cash and if I can access the internet I can get cash instantly.

Sorry for your loss though.

Clearly you stayed there and someone stole letters from your phone keyboard.

Ok campers, rise and shine! — and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooooold out there today.
That's right. It's groundhog day!
Clearly this hotel is never going to change.

I'm sure OP knows that it wasn't the best idea to leave the cash in the room. Atleast it was hidden and also safes are no guarantee that your stuff is actually save. All hotels have master keys and most of them take no responsibility in case somethings stolen out of a safe.

I'm also aware that we don't live in a world of rainbows and unicorns. But come on, **** like this is just ridiculous. The fact that sites still book this hotel is more than questionable imo.

Small motion detector cameras are fairly cheap to buy and seem like a must purchase for anyone keeping any kind of money in their room at these kinds of stops.

An admin was kind enough to enable your PMs so you should be able to contact party_Rep now.

At least a Party rep was quicker to respond ITT than Stars were in previous incidents.

While it sucks for the OP, given that there's been stories like this or similar for decades now in relation to donkaments, one has to winner why:

a) OP feels the need to have so much cash on hand in the first place
b) If he needed to for gameplay related reasons, why he didn't leave it at the casino
