I haven't talked to Linus in a few months and I'm on a content hiatus right now but when I start back up I will reach out to him and hopefully we can make some magic happen.

A few people laughed this off but it's a very great question to think about imo. I know a few poker players who are currently experiencing this or trying to figure their way out of it now. The entire idea of going from high stakes poker success to success in another area of like that doesn't come close to the amount of $$$ you've become accustomed to expecting is crazy in itself.

I think the experience forces you to decide what is important to you in your life & what you want your lifestyle to be like. I think this type of life ends up being a surprise to most people who get into it. They've heard about it over the years through media but lack an understanding of what exactly it's all about. If maintaining that lifestyle & exploring the depths of it further is your answer, the easiest way to continue on is probably find a stake to play in those games or games below it and try to build your way back up bankroll wise & mindset wise. If you enjoyed parts of it but not others, maybe you pursue those areas (which would probably be drugs/women) until you run yourself down and aren't sure what to do unless you run very well and are able to come out of it.

For some people, it might mean that they made a mistake, understand what the mistake is, understand they want to get back to that type of life and then work their asses off. I imagine this experience has absolutely crushed people to the point of no return (in their own minds) over the years in poker. Not necessarily limited to long-time professionals but applicable to those who degened it to the high stakes for some period of time and then came crashing back down.

I think the way you come back from it is to surround yourself w/ people or a singular person who will give it to you straight and not enable destructive behavior to continue which aren't always easy to find. Assuming destructive = failing at those areas you once prioritized achieving success in while becoming unhealthier as time goes on.

Very very short answer on this one but I could talk about it for few hours and develop it further.

I think that most people fail to understand why successful high stakes poker players became that in the first place. You're always after more or better. More money, more fish, more games, more opportunity, better knowledge, better winning strategy, more information....

They might think their life is good but that type of person will always be looking for more or better in some capacity. Once you become aware of the lifestyle and decide it's something you're interested in and want to know more about, you start looking around at those with more than you in those areas. More opportunities, more money, more information, more experience, better knowledge, better winning strategy, but the lifestyle isn't as binary as poker can seem to be and there is no solver to tell you what to do. When you're a successful high stakes player, you're not sitting around talking about how bad everyone is (I know some people who love to do this as a reaffirmation strategy) and how good you are, you're thinking about how you can get better and gain more from your ability.

(once again, very very short exploration of this idea)

Some might spend their time discussing how their life is good and why other peoples suck, but I think most people that this might describe are looking at other people around them wondering how they can reach that level of success in this new game they've discovered they can play.

I have no idea how many poker players this describes as the successful high stakes poker player pool is small to begin with but I do know they exist from my own experience and hours of conversation.

I am deep in the lab right now but when I return to content, this is the style it will be in. Focused on poker primarily at the beginning and progressively becoming some mixture of popular culture that the mainstream is interested in and I'm interested in exploring (think the UFC Investigation video I did - a deep dive on a worldwide trending event/topic/idea), more niche topics I'm the most interested in (Why most Kobe Beef is a scam lol is something I'm interested in putting out there), further discussions on these topics w/ more knowledgeable figures from each industry and poker.

I have about 250-1000 different poker video ideas. It will probably depend on how interested I am in making them if they ever come to fruition.

Do you seriously believe the story that he committed suicide? He is just fine relaxing in one of the islands in the Caribbean. You see, now the politicians have brought him to justice or claimed they tried, so that the morons (majority of people) can keep sleepwalking and believe in their good "work". It's really funny that you actually believe that someone with unlimited funds can be prosecuted.

Don't post much on here. Pretty much just a run-of-the-mill 28 year old degen who use to be an investment banker. I've been playing live PLO for two years now. 10/25 up to 100/200/500.

If you ever decide to do research around the topic, I'd be happy to add my two cents. Your podcast is top notch and I don't know how many people can tell a story and give feedback from the degen side. Ran up $3k to $1m+ and back down again.

It's a pretty insane experience. Even after people talk about it and hear stories about it, its very different actually experiencing it.
