That's probably true. Which is why he should have gotten a heads-up it wouldn't all just be "What's your favorite poker room snack?" and "What's Patrik Antonius really like?"

At the end of the session, one of the most seasoned high stakes Vegas regs pulled me aside and warned me what I did wasn't a good idea, and not to do it again.

We didn't cross paths my final few days in Vegas that summer. Over the course of the next year, he was responsive and widdled down the debt from $100k to $40k (a few grand at a time, via Full Tilt transfer), which he still owes me. By summer 2011, he had stopped making payments but was still responsive with plenty of reasons why he couldn't.

Since then, he's been basically nonresponsive. I've sent him messages every now and then when he's hit a big tournament score and he's ignored them. The only time I got a response was when we were both in Vegas playing the same tournament, and he asked me not to make a public scene about it. I still have screen shots of texts and other evidence, but would like to give him a chance to respond before sharing more.
Sadly doesn't surprise me at all. There were way too many stories on here and elsewhere about him scamming people and owing money for all of it to be as he put it, 'false'. Yet Mason invites this guy to his office and promotes him on here. Why Mason? Why not invite Chino to come on here? Or Mike B? Or others? Sure I asked a couple questions but it's laughable that Eli is treated as some saint to be looked up to on here while others get attacked mercilessly on here for scamming and owing much less. This OP mentioned $100,000 Eli 'borrowed'. Does anybody not living in fantasyland realize how much damn money that is? And Eli still owes him $40,000? Just pathetic on so many levels that Mason brings this guy in here.

If I buy the book will I find out how much you've scammed and how much you owe people Eli?

2p2 made a huge misstep here. Cole South is the truth.

Did they? A little controversy never hurt sales.

Although, how is anyone to believe the stories Eli tells in this book when he's a known liar?

how was 2p2 supposed to know eli owed money from several years ago?

Maybe when Alec Torelli gets back from vacation and has access to the internet, Eli can borrow his computer to respond.

I'm sure the braintrusts at 2+2 have been discussing this situation. I mean what do they do now? I'm sure after cts came out with his allegations that will be the end of Eli answering questions. Will Mason apologize? I for one think he should but it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't. This whole thread blew up in 2+2's face. What would really be right is for Eli not to hide and to publicly address the cts situation. Then maybe I might have somewhat of an interest to buy his book. But my gut tells me there are lots of other people who have been scammed by him, hell there is a full thread like Chino about Eli doing this. C'mon Eli and Mason we are waiting.

Was wondering how long it would take for this post.

We all knew it was coming.

Hi Everyone:

Okay. A lot of issues have been brought up here and I’ll do my best to answer them.

First, I received a phone call from Eli last May asking if I would be interested in publishing his autobiography, and Eli was calling me because Doyle Brunson had recommended that he contact me. Normally, we don’t publish this type of book and have turned down books like this, including Phil Hellmuth, in the past. But partly because of my respect for Doyle, and partly because I had the time, I agreed to look at part of the text and assumed it would be quickly rejected.

However, what I found was an extremely interesting and detailed story that I concluded needed to be told. So I sat down with Eli to talk about publication.

As an aside, this book has cost 2+2 a little over $20,000 to produce. We don’t expect to make that all back. It would be nice if we did, but in the past 2+2 has been so successful that we’re now willing to publish some books which we think are worth publishing even if it costs us some money. So, I include this for those of you who accuse me of being money hungry.

Anyway, I was well aware of some accusations made against Eli, particularly by Shawn Deeb (who we at 2+2 think highly of) and his photoshop business. Eli assured me that his issues with Shawn had been resolved and the photoshop business is described in detail in the book. I also spoke to others that I know, including David Grey, who i’m good friends with, who also gave me a “thumbs up” concerning Eli. So the decision was made to publish this book.

Now, this brings us to the Cole South post. All of this is new to me and I’m not the one who has any sort of answer. I do hope that any problem that may exist gets resolved.

Next, let’s get to this “ask me anything” thread. We obviously did it to help promote the book and explained to Eli how it would work, and this explanation included that there would probably be some unpleasant questions. But Eli wanted to go ahead and I think that many here on 2+2 were enjoying it since it’s rare for an ultra-high stakes player to talk about the games. (Also, there’s much in his book, including playing with Chip Reese and Doyle Brunson which I think that many here will find fascinating.) However, we did tell Eli that he wasn’t required to answer any questions he didn’t want to and his time here was voluntary.

Privateworld. For those who don’t know, and I’m sure Eli knows nothing about him, this is a sometimes poster who has made lots of accusations about high stakes players. However, we don’t know who he is and we don’t know if anything he says about anyone is even accurate. Thus, any of his stuff that gets reposted here will be deleted.

Best wishes,
Mason

Has your “Thumbs Up” related opinion changed given the accusation and the (lack of) response?
01-20-2019 , 07:55 PM
Mason ,

Do you know if Eli is going to make any statement ?

He can’t expect us to buy a book after lying to us. We ask some simple questions like is it true you owe people money , and he replied no those allegations are false,

It’s clear to me he’s a liar so I would bet some of his book is made up.

One thing that’s concerning from cts post is after he lent him the 100k many ppl told him he shouldn’t of done that - that was in 2010 , a long time ago, which means this has been going on for some time now

And one person I think we can all agree is cledible is cts so what he says does mean something.

I was interested in getting the book, but after all these revelations it would be hard to believe a work of it. It sucks because I was looking forward to it and really appreciated this Q & A. Hopefully Eli makes a statement and is transparent about everything.

CTS’s allegations are obviously both credible and troubling. But if Eli’s book is entertaining, I may well buy it anyway. I would suspect that a Chino biography would be entertaining as hell, and we all know he is a complete scammer.
01-20-2019 , 08:06 PM
This ended exactly how I thought it would.

The thing is though, Eli obviously doesn't talk about his scams in his book since he totally denies owing anybody anything ITT. Would be entertaining if he or Chino did though.

Difference is chino doesn’t lie about it , he even has a phrase about it “you’ve been chino”d”

I think his book would be interesting and I would read it
01-20-2019 , 08:28 PM
I would only borrow a copy of Chino's book
