you still can

and you can even use credit cards to play on dfs sites.

sidenote, Men the Master used to be a "former restaurant owner"? Considering the place he "owned" was probably just used for some tax/laundering front, it must of been the worse food ,ever.

You may be right - it's from 2007.

LOL

his nickname is in reference to him inserting a pool cue in a females vagina and using an ongoing thrusting motion with said pool cue

But you were close

lol at anyone typing anything positive about this idiot. He is one of the biggest scumbags that has ever been involved in poker.

+1

Lol@ thinking ESPN would do any in depth investigation of this clown or that they know anything about poker in general.
A lot of the players they used to "feature" are dead broke at best, and that doesn't even take into account their character or poker skill.

They're ignorant as far as poker is concerned so it's not surprising.
A lot of these players either

1)were total frauds
2)ran like god in a few tournies around the time poker was becoming popular and got lots of tv time and endorsments because of it
3)may have been decent back then but the game has long since passed them by.

I mean how many of those ESPN "good" players from 10 years ago are still beating the games today without endorsement deals? Not to mention there were always guys like Gabe Thaler who just grinded away at cash games successfully back then, still does now and never got any attention since he wasn't binking tv events. Not that he's an amazing player or anything but there are guys like him who are just solid players making money in cash games for years on who will never be well known.

Don't believe everything you see on tv- especially when people have reason to lie and promote themselves.
If you play in poker rooms long enough you'll see a lot of these ESPN "poker stars"-almost always in very low stakes games, often short stacking as well and who knows if they're even winning or on their own dime.

As far as what Men plays- the times I've since this scumbag at the borgata he's playing 2/5 plo and shortstacking (200-300 in a game with a 1 k max buy in) and I saw him a few times at the tables near mine in what was either 1/2 or 2/5 nl.He would get destroyed in higher cash games.

He did to my understanding play some events at the recent borgata tourny series- most likely backed by people who don't know any better.

What about Dan Harrington-he made quite an accomplishment making two consequtive final tables in the 2003 and 2004 main event. He was an Espn pokerstar like Sammy Farha back in the day.Have you seen something similar they had done or have you played recently with them?

I think Harrington was one of the exceptions who would have (genuine) business interests outside poker and would've been smart in how he managed the money he won through poker. Poker may have at times made up a large part of his income, but I don't think he ever relied on poker as his sole source of income.

He [Harrington] is also from a wealthier (than regular folks) background since before poker or poker-related business ventures. I played poker with his aunt once.

I assume he made a fair amount of money on his poker books. They are some of the better books out there for beginners.

Harringtons books were great when they were written. Most of the info is common knowledge now by any decent player but that wasn't the case when they were written.

He also has admitted the game has gotten much harder and the older it gets the harder it is to play the longer hours needed for tournaments.

Harrington is also a very smart guy who as pointed out by others on here made money outside of poker, knew how to manage his poker winnings and doesn't strike me as the type to ball out like an idiot.

He makes more from writing books than from playing poker as well, most likely, and stating the incredibly/stupendously obvious. Twoplustwo pays well compared to standard publishers from what Mason/Sklansky have told me .

I'd say it's more likely he's gone quiet since desertcat made it obvious he doesn't know anything outside of the Bellagio.

I remember back in '86 when Old Man Gunderblatt got the first credit card ever seen in Hendersonville. We all went to The Mansion to look at it -- well, Ma said she didn't have time for any of that foolishness with the pickling needing to be done -- but the rest of us did. There was a big crowd gathered, the Widow Jones clucking away about 'Devil's debts' and the Crane Quintuplets staring all wide-eyed, but Pa sat me on his shoulders so I could see the card.

Old Man Gunderblatt was talking about minimum payments and APRs, but I didn't pay attention to any of that. I just stared at that card all shiny and gold with a black stripe that made me think of the future and the many wonderful things to come.

It was a few years before any stores nearby accepted credit cards, and even Ma got one by Aught-Three, but I'll never forget that first credit card.

You are thinking of the 70's, not the mid 80's.
