Article claims ex footballer/soccer player has made 80m from poker - Page 2 - Poker News

I can confirm he has made 80 million but it did not come easy. I was there in one of the sessions where he was playing some guy heads up and lost 54 million in one night. Cant say who it was against though.

I almost made this thread myself. The initial BBC article states:

"After earning millions throughout his career, former Everton and Real Madrid midfielder Thomas Gravesen decided to invest his earnings in becoming a professional poker player in Las Vegas – now boasting an estimated worth in excess of £80 million."

This certainly implies he invested under $10m and turned it into $80m playing poker.

It is really sloppy for the BBC. Not supposed to be some ****ty clickbait site.

- which admittedly doesn't sound that cool now, because we are more aware of American sports where the teams all have those kind of cutesy names aimed at six-year olds and also minority interest sports like Rugby League and GPL try the same kind of stuff, but in football in the 1980s it seemed to children like a cool name and stood out from all the others which were (name of town) + (city/town/united/rovers).

He prob made about 10-20 mill from football. Then after some good investments is now worth about 100 mill

He probably spends his days playing poker in Vegas, as a sports man he probably just enjoys the mental challenge. But his 100m is not from poker at all
