Aria Announce "Multi Action Poker"-Two Dealers/Simultaneous Games Per Table!

I think this will probably be a train wreck, but I really hope it takes off!! Details to follow from Aria. I was playing cash game there tonight and took a pic of the table. According to the Aria Twitter, it will start up this upcoming Wednesday.

I've got to hand it to Aria for trying to tackle my number one problem with live poker: getting in more hands per hour. Even if this doesn't work, that's pretty commendable.

Oooo. That is really surprising and it seems legit after a bit of googling. It'd be amazing if this sort of thing takes off. I'm not sure how well the lush who is just stumbling his way through one table is going to deal with two games at once though.

I'm also very sceptical about this, but really hope they could make it work. Great idea, but not sure how well it's gonna work in practice.

Re: Aria Announce "Multi Action Poker"-Two Dealers/Simultaneous Games Per Table!

My initial thoughts:

-This isn't going to be "speed poker" or anything like that, and we'll still have to wait for the same people to tank when it's their turn, but if it goes smoothly we will absolutely see more hands per hour. This is because the amount of time the table is waiting for the dealer to do their thing such as shipping pots to a player, dealing out the cards, etc., we are playing another hand with the other dealer. (in addition to playing another hand while someone is tanking on the other one) In a way, the dealers are the ones eating this time with their tip rate, instead of the players sitting there, not to mention the casino making more in rake. I'm starting to see why most of the dealers tonight were NOT happy about this concept!

-This shouldn't scare the fish away. There are twice as many things going on, but twice as many dealers to keep things in line. Unlike the electronic tables, or the failed Wynn 6-max games, I think the recreational players may flock to this type of game and enjoy it.

-Aria is trying to create a competitive advantage by perfecting this concept before their competitors can follow suit. From what I've heard, the dealers all heard about this today as well. They kept it under wraps for as long as possible, and maybe they'll carve out a niche, who knows?

-It will be very interesting to see how the new flood of potential angle shoots are dealt with. Are you allowed to verbally say "call" when action is now on you for two hands?? Same thing for verbally announcing raises. Also the chips..will we have another set of different colored chips for each game? Would be pretty sick but I'd be shocked if they spent the money to make that happen for an unproven concept. The list of angles goes on and on...

-All in all, I just really hope this works! That is all.

Re: Aria Announce "Multi Action Poker"-Two Dealers/Simultaneous Games Per Table!

Literally the worst poker idea ever.

Recreational players aren't going to have 2 buyins at the table at the same stakes. They are going to shortstack twice or play deep twice at a lower limit. Also, since it's 8 handed, the table has a good chance of breaking when 2 people are away. What happens when they get felted on one stack. Do they have to get up? Can they break stacks? Is it now a 40BB California donkament cash game?

Dealers are going to be getting in each other's way. Imagine the cluster**** of breaking down bets, dealing cards, mucking cards, and shipping pots with 2 hands. All sorts of **** is going on in every direction. Just dealing cards when everyone has bets in front of them is hard. Hello helicopter cards. Seat 3 and seat 7 both win huge pots at the same time. Good luck not mixing up the chips and shipping the pot in a timely fashion.

It's going to be easy to cheat. You get AA in pot "B"...is it really that hard to migrate a black chip or two from stack "A"?

But the worst thing is that it might make recreational players play better. If you're going all these extra hands in you don't need to mess around with speculative garbage. A lot small pots, hands taken down preflop, and that is going to be disastrous for their tips.

All in all this is an idea you come up with stoned at 2am and hopefully sober up the next morning. This guy didn't.

This is seriously really cool and congrats to them for trying something new.

I will say the floor at aria have become complacent with their spot of #1 poker room in vegas and I've noticed them being rude to players a few times. A couple years ago when they were trying their best it was a much different story.

Overall, good move by them to be innovative.

And for what it's worth, the floor at Bellagio (mgm property also) are easily the rudest floor people in vegas. It's not even close compared to the rest of the poker rooms.

You guys are all whining about this?

Geeee looks like the perfect innovation to me.

I'm impressed. You guys all sound to me like the idiots that though trains would make you sick when they where invented.

Speaking only for myself, I'm cautiously optimistic. There are a lot of questions that we don't know the answers to which are cause of legitimate concern. I can't give Aria enough credit, however, for trying to get the players (and themselves) more hands per hour, though. Should be interesting either way.

Very creative, good for them trying something new and thinking outside the box.

If it works out, GREAT
if not, Oh well,

Worth giving it a shot.

Cool idea and worth a shot, but I don't see it working. It's hard enough to get **** right with just 1 deck. There may be another way though.. just have to think of it.

Pokertek, the company that makes the PokerPro electronic poker tables, was rumored to be working on this concept. Obviously, with electronic tables the selected potential problems that I quoted from your post would not be an issue.

I reckon that since electronic tables never really took off, Pokertek's shrinking development budget didn't allow them to bring the project to fruition.

This is chaos, you'd have to do limit poker. I mean what, you'd have two seperate stacks? There would be so much cheating going on. Probably not evening cheating on purpose. I mean you'd get your stacks all confused.

Re: Aria Announce "Multi Action Poker"-Two Dealers/Simultaneous Games Per Table!

This should be VERY interesting...Any mention of the stakes that will be spread on Wednesday? Also, will this be for both LHE & NLHE?

People being mad about and/or insulting this move by Aria are LOL. In order for new great things to be discovered and implemented there will, naturally, be some failures as well. This will most likely be the latter but grab some popcorn and quit hatin'.

I must admit that of all the strip casinos in Vegas, Aria would probably be one of the last that I would picture being the first to implement this variation of the game. At the very least this should make for some great Aria trip reports this week.

P.S. Imagine PLO or better yet PLO8

Aria should have released a demo video as to how this is going to work...

I was ganna talk crap about this idea itt, but I appreciate the ingenuity behind it. It's a much better concept than the 6 max tables at the Wynn imo.

I'll refrain from negative comments until this actually sets off. I wonder if it's one stack for both tables or one stack per table (I know it SHOULD be one stack table but it wasn't verified in the OP)

You are asking if you sit down and have two separate stacks, one for each dealer, right? There will be two separate stacks for each player from what I've been told from the dealers.

Damn, $600 BI for this game. I'm never ganna play it LOL. Thanks for the info

Regardless of whether or not this actually does well, it would be SO sick as a WSOP event.

Not sure I understand your logic. If your stop loss is one BI and you lose one, pick the other stack up and bounce.

As for a WSOP event..are you out of the tournament when you lose one of your stacks??? Seems like this only would work as a cash game, or mayyyybe some sort of STT.
