PokerAddict,

In your opinion, Does this change anything w.r.t the player's money? A couple of guys in the other thread feel like this is good news for the players. I agree this is news but not sure it really affects us that much.

+1 on Scott Tom getting caught and serving maximum prison time!

Not sticking up for the AP/UB thieves, but this case has nothing to do with him "stealing millions of dollars."

"Beckley, 31, a U.S. citizen, pleaded guilty today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ronald Ellis in Manhattan to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud and conspiracy to violate an Internet gambling law"

Which is what they can prove and therefore get justice. The theft of the $$ had to be washed somehow and this is how they did it and because they where legit companies it is easier to prove this part of the story and gain a conviction. Remember they stole the money offshore then washed it wit in the States..doing a major investigation in a bannana republic is way harder then in the excited states.

I also met Brent and he seemed very genuine. You could say he's the "Chris ferguson" of UB. Smart and very friendly but should have probably put his foot down when things needed to be straighten out. Or at the very least get out of it so you don't get in this kind of trouble that will affect yourself and your family. Money tho

Here is an archived 2p2 post that covers some of the AP peole including Beckley.

If he has any equity in AP or personally it belongs to the players.

Seems like when there are large numbers of people charged with the same thing the first ones to admit/squeal/accept do the least amount of time..actually sometimes they get it done so quick they are finished with their sentence by the time other players who didn't co-operate are even tried.

Obviously its ridiculous that he didnt get a longer sentence but but I dont understand why everyone is so surprised. Look at the CEO's and guys at Lehman Brothers who committed the biggest case of fraud the United States has ever seen but yet none of them are in prison. Just sad that this is how it works in the USA.
